really? I dont see that you have our number 1 pick at the top of the list. Your pooint was to put together a package of ok players for Mack and its ridiculous
so with this thinking, we should never add a player unless hes the final piece of the puzzle? The entire mind frame makes zero sense. Khalil Mack instantly becomes the best LB we have ever had. A generational talent but we cant trade for him unless hes the last thing we need? If we could get Mack for a 1st and a player or two, you carry the players on your back to Oakland and you carry Mack all the way back. Wont happen but some of you guys are insane.
Fair enough, but I didn't say they can't afford him really I was listing reasons why a team may trade a top player like that
So what would you want with the next years 1 btw ? In theory, you are getting a guaranteed top star player v's a project, or in our case a potential bust
What I wanna know is, who the F names their kid Jihad? I know that word has another shade of meaning, but seriously? And there I was thinking Deadrin and Barkevious were headshakers. Silly me. It has to be some inside chess game of who can one up who on the maternity ward. Now watch someone name their kid Maternity. Jihad Ward, Maternity Ward, you know it's coming. What is so wrong with the name Bob? What has no arms and no legs and floats in the ocean? Bob! I know, I know, but c'mon now.
Like I said, it will most likely take multiple first rounders to get Mack, OR our first packaged with other top 3 round picks and a quality starter. Is he worth it? The answer is yes as he's one of the best players in the league, bar none. Add to that, the Jets very shoddy draft track record and he almost definitely outweighs whomever they would be selecting with those picks. After thinking about it, I would probably make the move even if we have to give up this much. He would make our defense special for at least the next 5 years. I've just come to expect that this franchise will never really put together an elite offense so might as well make our D top notch and win games that way.
27 years old. 36 sacks the last 3 seasons. never been injured. That man is worth the number 1 pick in the whole draft.
With Williams eating up blocks, Maye, Adams and Clairborne in the backfield, th addition of Mack could be WOOOOOOO
Yup. You will not find a better player anywhere in next year’s draft. The problem is what other picks we’d have to give up. Do we give up a 2019 third rounder and go the first three rounds without a pick? It’s going to be tough to find a package that will beat out other teams’ offers but also not completely obliterate our 2019 draft. Hopefully some team will be desperate enough to give us a third for Teddy...
I’ve never been a fan of trading away number 1 picks. I believe the Jets are still 2-3 seasons away of from being potential true, long term contenders so I’d prefer they continue to build thru the draft. IMO.
