You should definitely go, then. It’s free, and you won’t have to deal with traffic or parking. What time is dinner at your place? Maureen and I can stop by, and bring a nice bottle of wine!
Anybody going tonight? I wish I could be there but got other plans. If anybody is going please keep an eye on Darnold and tell us how he looks.
We’re leaving shortly. I’ve never been to Rutgers before, and I’m not sure about parking. I hope the weather holds up, too! Looking forward to it.
Enjoy my friend. Stadium is 5 minutes to my work place. I wish it was Friday night so I could go there right after work. Oh well.
Saw it once at Hofstra in the old school days, twice in Cortland & once at headquarters. The atmosphere is always fantastic.Fans are fired up as are the players who want to perform & oh yeah for their jobs. That said its been a bit of letdown football wise mainly bc the offense & specfically the passing game have stunk. Its very buttoned up & rehearsed especually w the running plays.Without a competent passing attack its snoresville after acouple drives. I can only imagine the hush in the air w Darnold. If he,Mccown & Bridgewater are all on this could be a very specual evening for training camp nerds
The Jets are super anal about recording 7 on 7s and team drills. Since the majority of the practice will be team drills, I doubt we ever see any of it.
Hopefully this isn’t what it has been in the last 3 years. Just Eric Allen talking positively about the team as they stretch and do warmups, then cameras down for anything interesting we’d actually want to see. But knowing how this team works, I’m not getting my hopes up and standing by my previous post.
Right now espn ny live at scrimmage doing interviews with alumni. Good show. New pre and post game guy Dan Graca is on. Always liked him on mad dog radio. Jet season ticket holder and fan of team unlike don lagreca who was a giant fan and sounded like he never wanted to be there. Like it. Chrebet on now. I'm listening to @espnnewyork on @TuneIn. #NowPlaying http://tun.in/seoWt
That's awesome. This is going to be awesome. I've only read about these practices during years past but I've never experienced a green and white scrimmage game with my own eyes. Moments away from seeing Darnold under center as a signal caller. As a Jet. I can only take so much film from his USC days. This is going to be fun.
I would temper expectations. They’ve done this in the past and not shown any team drills. It very well could just be shots of Eric Allen and Olivia Landis talking the entire time. Although it’d be awesome if they actually let us see it.
Lots of twitter folks saying the place is absolutely packed. I really hope Darnold has re-energized the fanbase. The apathy we’ve seen the last few years has really been sad to see. I’d love it if the stadium turns out to be raucous again. This many people showing up to an August practice is a good indicator hopefully.
Well, we’re here. Traffic and prking weren’t bad. We looked at the Jetfest stuff for a while, and the security line into the stadium wasn’t bad either. The crowd is pretty big. One of the biggest I can remember.
He has absolutely fired this fan base up. Sam Darnold has rockstar potential to become an NYC household name. He can fire up this team and his teammates up too. Some of my favorite threads. Are one's from before the draft. During college season. When 99% of Jet fans figured we'd have zero chance of Darnold unless drafting 1st overall. Suck for Sam threads while the kid was still @ USC. This is nuts. Yes. Our stadium will rock and rock like never before. Sam Darnold as starter come opening day on Monday Night Football and Jet fans within the stadium will be in a frenzy. I feel bad for both McCown or Teddy if Sam isn't named opening day starter. This fan base will not stop chanting Sam's name until it happens and we see him play. Every mistake, turnover, ending in a bad drive etc etc pretty much any mistake out of Bridgewater or Josh will be magnified and you'll begin to hear Darnold rumblings. You can't avoid it either. We're talking about a starved fan base here. One who just waited a couple of years for Hackenberg... He never came. A fan base who've waited years for a Franchise QB dating back to since those Joe Namath days. All these generations later and he's still yet to come. Pennington with multiple shoulder injuries that reauired multiple surgeries to his throwing arm was the closest thing we've had to a FQB to build our future around. And I don't think this fan base has much if any patience left at all to wait any longer.
There’s a clock showing 41 minutes befire the festivities begin. The house music just went down, and they’re showing up-close-and-personal videos on the scoreboard.
I hope Sam doesn't do something stupid like the Kiki challenge and get hit by a car. That would be such a Jets thing to do.
