You're the only one saying that Mac would have to wait until the 4th or 5th round. Also, the example you cited about Indy is kind of funny. It doesn't really support your position at all. Indy went out and drafted Edgerrin James, they didn't go out and sign a FA RB for big $s.

If Garcia pans out as our future LT, and Mac signs a stud FA edge rusher, then getting a stud #1 WR and stud RB would be among the top priorities (along with upgrading the rest of the OL). Mac could draft a RB in the 1st or 2nd round next year, especially if he is able to trade down and add an additional 2nd and 3rd round pick.

No one's disputing what a great RB could do for Darnold and the Jets' offense. It just doesn't have to be Bell.

Thanks for the update..I don't want to be coming across as a disgruntled grump but the Jets have done me in over the years ...hehehe

If Williams is this great a player (and I am happy for him) I am waiting for him to show us a pulse come the Season because he has not been much of a signature force for us

    Khalil Mack, anyone?

I don’t normally fall for the outlandish trade proposals on here but this actually makes *some* sense to me. The Raiders and Mack haven’t even negotiated since February and there’s no end to his holdout in sight. Maybe a team with loads of cap space and a glaring need for a 27 year old superstar pass rusher can make a phone call to see what it would take?

Intriguing. A 3 time Pro Bowler and 2 time all pro already

Trouble is we're short 2nd round picks and I don't see Mac coughing up a first

But adding Mack would change the complexion of the entire defense. Of the entire team really. Add him to the continuing rise and improvement of Adams, Lee, Maye etc and you will have a top 10 D. He will be a rising tide that lifts all ships

Any conversation would start with at least 1 first if not 2. Mack is a complete game changer in the middle of his prime. Do we have enough picks to entertain this thought? Probably not. But we have the cap space, and I’d venture to say that Mack would easily have more of an impact than anyone we take in the first round next year.

Uh oh. You’re suggesting we essentially take a defensive player with our first next year. RUN!

In all seriousness I agree. I trade next years first for Mack in a heartbeat. That would be tough having no picks in the first two rounds but he’s an elite talent in his prime. You’re guaranteed nothing in the draft as we know quite well.

There is already rumblings about that already. He hasn't been good since his rookie season.

    That's not true at all.

He had a very promosing rookie year (2015).

And also put together a very good season as a 2nd year player (2016). Was selected to the pro bowl during his 2nd season.

Last year was a down year but no, I disagree with your assessment in regards to Williams throughout his first 3 seasons of play.

He was good his rookie season and outstanding his 2nd year too.

I've watch Williams from his days at USC. Yes, he had a good rookie year with Mo and Sheldon around him but they are gone. So I don't see Anderson or Sheperd making opposing defensive coordinators nervous. It will be tough going for Williams and Bowles will have to blitz all the time to even generate a whiff of a QB..

I've posted before that no interior lineman, outside of Aaron Donald, has had more QB hits than Williams since he came into the league. He may not be racking up sacks, but he has been very good against the run and is applying QB pressure but not putting up the sexy sack numbers. Watch the game, don't read the BS that the writers say.

Especially don't think they should spend that much on a RB who has already missed 22.5% of the games he could have been playing in. Bell has only played all 16 games in 1 of 5 seasons.

No there aren't. Outside of a handful of fans who have no idea what theyre watching and only know what a sack stat is

I wouldn't call him a bust, but he admitted that he was tired and not able to perform in the 3rd and 4th quarter, no matter what your homer take is.

I think its a combination of Rodgers being an idiot and the loss of talent bordering Williams. I think also he would be better utilized in a straight 4-3. He wouldn't be doubled teamed as much and I know he could win most match up's.
