Darnolds mistakes so far seem to be just tips that end up in defenders hands. Not bonehead throws. Bad luck if anything. They happen to every QB. Pleased with him so far Really shows you how far we've come from the days of Petty and Hackenberg who were basically airmailing balls to the hotel lobby a mile away
It's early, but it was obvious after upgrading the C position that the line would look better without any other major tranactions. Darnold if he continues to improve can play with this line, the only thing I question is the run blocking. Jet fans really didn't know how bad Wesley Johnson was. He was bad from the get-go, especially after Myles Garrett destroyed him on the way to his first career sack.
He sucks at run blocking, and you want someone at that RT spot that can make plays in the run game as well as the passing game. He's an upgrade over Breno, but the Jets should not be satisfied with just that
the run blocking was reported to be really good on the long TD drive that McCown led and capped by a 5 yard Crowell run.
Good sign. And Spencer isn't great. I think he's about a league average center. Still W. Johnson was pretty much the worst center in football last season so upgrading there helps so much Plus we have a quality defensive line so the fact that we're not getting run to the ditch out there is a good sign.
Yep. Brooks we pretty much got for nothing. Sent the worthless McDougle to Philly. Derrick Jones was a late round afterthought project (hurt all of 2017) but intriguing. Great size. Nickerson someone who was overlooked. Smallish school, off the radar a bit. But the advanced stat guys loved him from the getgo And they're all impressing. You hit on 1 of those guys and you're doing something right. If they all turn into football players then major props to Mac
Crowell is going to be outstanding. He's durable (knock on wood) plus we're getting this guy just as he enters his prime. 25 years old and played well for a historically inept franchise
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggh, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Undisclosed, please don't let it be his neck. https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2018/...quincy-enunwa-suffers-undisclosed-injury/amp/
Bowles did call it a training camp injury. Not sure what that means exactly but it makes me believe that it's not so severe
No that was Jeremy Clarke. He blew out his ACL at Michigan and missed all of last year. Derrick Jones was a converted WR at Miss St. and just wasn’t ready. Now apparently he is. Both could be huge finds, Clarke was originally a 2nd prospect before getting injured.
Yea. The secondary is already in very good shape with two coverage CB's in Trumaine & Claiborne on the outside as 1 & 2 along with two SEC 2nd year Safeties in Adams & Maye on the back end @ SS & FS. Looking forward to this group a lot. Then as you mentioned. Depth. I say give Skrine a chance to go back to the inside @ Nickel now that we've got a true #1 top 5 CB and a solid #1 as our #2. But he could be replaced unless he responds. Because Nickerson, a blazing fast rookie with crazy closing speed and ideal size for a nickel back looks really promising thus far. And Jones is also looking like a lock. To me. He's to be developed for the outside. To one day replace Claiborne opposite Trumaine. He's got great size but for the outside. Built like Cromartie with an aggressive style of play. Real physical. Reminds me of a Talib the way he plays the position. Burris, not Nickerson should be Jones' competition moving forward. I'm very high on our backup safety's. Terrence Brooks and Doug Middleton seem like ball players to have as unknown sleepers.
We know Skrine has been piss poor bar about 5 plays, he has had his chips, time to throw Nickerson into the slot imo
Hes gotta prove he can tackle first. That was not a strong suit in college & was likely why he had no slot experience coming into camp.Get the sense coverage comes very easy to this guy..but gotta be able to wrap up on those inner portions of the field. Hoping those bad knees that slippped him to round 6 hold up.In a perfect world Nickerson,Jones, & either Burris or Clarke step up & force the jets hand in keeping youngsters over the likes of Skrins/Roberts
