You might be right. Didnt he have a couple dings and missed opportunities to take over in his rookie season?

Hes not the biggest guy, kind of undersized for an every down back

Stephania Bell talked about this specific injury and explained how there is a very clear history of these injuries and the corrective surgery used to fix it. She tells how at minimum it will take 6 weeks to heal and that if he appears to be ready to go before then and is allowed to return he has an extremely likely chance of aggravating it which she says typically leads to a snowball effect and ultimately being shutdown for the season.

So based on that I hope he's not back until week 2 at the earliest.

Eli was 5'10" and 214lbs at his pro day, which is quite a bit bigger than every down backs Kareem Hunt (5'11" 201lbs) and Dalvin Cook (6' 201lbs) in the same rookie class. Its also the same size as Alvin Kamara.

I say there's no way this dude is out less that 6 weeks.... not only do the bones have to heal (and then often, the screws/pins removed after) he has to get back to conditioning as he wont be able to run that whole time (and you can only replicate so much in the pool)*

He was a pleasant surprise as a 6th rd pick and a nice role player, but is a bit overated by JETS fans imo

    * I'm no doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express..... and unfortunately have had more injuries than Chad Pennington

Is it Lisfranc a la stellar Team Captain Santonio Holmes (there are different severities of it)? Stress fracture? Planted the wrong way and broke his instep? What is it?

Lis Franc is prob one of the worst foot fractures you can have... but yes there different severities of it.
I've had a cuboid stress fracture (bone on the outside of the foot got crushed between the bones surrounding it)... took 3 months to heal (granted that was without surgery)
Lis Franc is rt in the middle and ads further complications

I'm guessing it's a 5th metatarsal--stress or a spiral fracture--usually heals on it's own in 4-6 weeks- but is still very painful for months after. However, with athletes sometimes they will insert a screw or a screw and a plate to help/accelerate the healing and to strengthen the bone to prevent further issues.

Probably turned on the outside of his foot and snapped it.

This would not be a Lis Franc fracture dislocation which is what he reportedly had

One reporter guessed that it might be a lisfranc but they would not be saying 3-6 weeks if it was. Lisfranc with surgery would most times be season ending

    I hadn’t heard that reported.

Lis franc is really bad. Can’t imagine a 6 week healing process. But I’ve never had one, just know people who have. It’s nagging.

the shanahan version of the wco essentially works with plug-n-play running backs.
none of the guys in denver who ran wild were high draft picks. so, if we have a decent OL, running back by committee can work.

That's sort of Mac's philosophy anyway even before we installed the Shanahan O. And that's really where the NFL is headed. 2 and 3 headed monster backfields with RB's of different skillsets.

Cannon may win the 3rd RB job. He's looked great so far. Crowell/Powell/Cannon could be a dangerous triple threat
