I did not see another thread so merge if it is there but he went down with a foot injury on Day 1 of camp,,,,any news how bad is it ?
I just read about it on Jetswire, but no details, either. Didn't even mention an X-ray. Just says foot. :/
No one else is reporting on it. Doubt it can be too serious. But luckily we have two other very capable running backs so we'll survive.
Apparently broke his foot and will miss significant time Alfred Morris just walked into the Jets building for a visit. He wouldn't be here if McGuire was ok
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) 7/28/18, 3:42 PM Free agent RB Alfred Morris has just walked into the #Jets building for a visit, source said. With the #Cowboys last year, Morris averaged 4.8 yards per rush. A possible intriguing option.

Sucks..... Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) 7/28/18, 3:56 PM #Jets RB Elijah McGuire, who figured to have a key role in the backfield, has suffered a fracture in his foot, source said. He’s going to require surgery and will miss an extended period. Depending on how long, he could be a candidate to return off Injured Reserve.
George Atkinson: Signs with Jets by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire Atkinson signed a contract with the Jets on Sunday. Atkinson's signing with the Jets comes on the Hells of Elijah McGuire breaking his foot. With McGuire set to miss several weeks, Atkinson is being brought in to add some depth to the position. Look for him to compete for a role as a reserve running back and special teams player.
I would imagine that the RB position will be fluid this preseason. Changes will happen in the likely event that someone shows little and someone shakes free after being cut from anoer roster
Good news. Only expected to miss 3-6 weeks https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/jets-elijah-mcguire-likely-out-3-6-weeks/
Let's hope Cannon can take advantage of this opportunity and earn a roster spot. He had a good practice yesterday with 2 TDs in RZ drills. He should be out there after practice fielding punts though.
Wasn't he prone to foot/ankle injuries even in H.S.? I thought I read that somewhere. I don't know, it seems like once a player has a weak spot it's destined to happen again and again. I'm curious to know exactly how he broke it and where the break is. Foot injuries can be incredibly hard to heal. Still, I am surprised it's only 3 - 6 considering he's getting surgery - unless that changes (?). Thanks for the update.
