JMac doesn't have a whole lot of talent as a returner, but nor does he drop balls either. At this stage of the season, where every game will count, give me the guy who I know will not turn it over. McCareins will gladly accept the job too, as evidenced by his willingness to play special teams. I'd love to see Leon take them, but I'm afraid it could cost us a game if he makes a rookie mistake.
Miller can't catch punts... or he would have had the job over Dwight already. The first thing a punt returner has to have is good hands. That aint Miller. McCariens or Cotch...
Excuse it if it's a stupid question, but what is the difference between the two besides the distance?
Trajectory and spin, but that isn't the main reason either. KO's don't have the hang time of punts and go further. That means a KO returner still has time to pick the ball up if he drops it. A lot of punts have to be caught cleanly because the coverage team is on top of the punt returner as the ball arrives. A dropped punt often means a turn over.
different spins on the ball, and the flight of the ball is on a very different trajectory. A kickoff is more of a line drive, whereas a punt is higher, so you have to let it fall to you. With a kickoff, you can catch the ball before its lowest point. I hope that clears it up a bit
Fortunately, with the ez schedule and the way Chad is playing, whoever is our punt returner won't even have to suit up.
That makes no sense... If it is an easy schedule, than there should be MORE punt returns. And what does Chad have to do with Punt returns...
If Miller lines up to field a punt ever again for the Jets I will smash a hole through my TV. The guy fumbled at least 5 punts last year and donk herm kept putting him back there.
He has finally played to his potential..and now you want to crucify him? Nevermind he leads the team in sacks...
