You should talk to more doctors about what that means, specifically. They aren't non-injuries. It means many people have low-grade injuries that don't impact them severely. And most people aren't professional athletes. Many doctors will also not go looking for injuries at the behest of their patients. In this case, it's the same injury. The same location. He's injured, guys. I know that's not as fun or cathartic of a story to tell, but it's much more likely to be true. Unless, of course, you think this quote from Sanchez is just trying to throw everyone off the scent:
Here's one article to get you started: https://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/29/health/mris-often-overused-often-mislead-doctors-warn.html "Dr. James Andrews, a widely known sports medicine orthopedist wanted to test his suspicion that M.R.I.’s, the scans given to almost every injured athlete or casual exerciser, might be a bit misleading. So he scanned the shoulders of 31 perfectly healthy professional baseball pitchers. The pitchers were not injured and had no pain. But the M.R.I.’s found abnormal shoulder cartilage in 90 percent of them and abnormal rotator cuff tendons in 87 percent. “If you want an excuse to operate on a pitcher’s throwing shoulder, just get an M.R.I.,” Dr. Andrews says. He and other eminent sports medicine specialists are taking a stand against what they see as the vast overuse of magnetic resonance imaging in their specialty. M.R.I.’s can be invaluable in certain situations — finding serious problems like tumors or helping distinguish between competing diagnoses that fit a patient’s history and symptoms. They also can make money for doctors who own their own machines. And they can please sports medicine patients, who often expect a scan."
So frustrating that they're treading water over the last month(14-14). I do expect them to get on a roll soon because they're too good not to. They were 41-13 after starting 9-9.
You really couldn't expect them to keep going at their previous pace. Every team, even the real good ones, endures a slump at some point. We know about the talent on this team; now we'll find out about its character. The bats are quiet, and Boston has a 5-game lead. You don't know about a team until it gets knocked down. Hopefully, these guys will bounce back up. Getting Torres back sure won't hurt. . It will be fascinating to see what Cashman does before the trade deadline. The Zach Britton trade was a little strange, I wonder if it means they have concern about Chapman's knee? It's hard to believe they'd trade for a guy of Britton's caliber simply to replace Chasen Shreve.
Yup, I never expected a '98 like pace to continue. This team isn't quite as good offensively or in the rotation. I know they win almost everyday, but the Sox have to cool off at some point. That's when the Yankees need to make their move. As for Britton, it doesn't hurt to fortify the pen even more. I don't believe it's about Chapman. I expect at least one starter to be acquired by the deadline, maybe Happ.
Yeah, I think they will be fine too. 5.5 back of the Red Sox will be difficult and unlikely to make up. That sets up a Wild Card game that is never a guarantee. Still 2 months to go though. Never know what could happen.
Trade for a quality starter is coming, they can't go on like this with Cessa and Sonny (Cloudy Day) Gray
pretty much - all teams cycle, the Red Sox could easily start grinding games and start losing some series. Yankees will likely pick up the pace again on their end
According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Yankees have a deal in place for Blue Jay starter J.A. Happ. I like it. Happ isn't great, but the market is not great either.
Hopefully, it works out well. Supposedly, the Yankees are giving up Brandon Drury and a marginal prospect, which isn't a bad price. What scares me is that when you go for the best guy in a bad market, you can wind up with a Sonny Gray. Still, they had to do something.
They did go 10-22 at one point last year and went over a month without winning a series. I'm not panicking now. If they're 5.5 games out with 20 games to play, then it's time to worry about the do or die WC game.
Judge to hospital for MRI. I bet it was that last bloop infield single that hurt it worse than when he got pegged.
