No mention of the fans or the Jets specifically. It says a lot. Nothing we did not already know, but still.
The only complaints I hear are driven by emotions. The Jets drafted and rostered the best CB in the history of football during his prime years of play. I am only playing Devil's advocate here, because I was as pissed as everyone else the way things transpired. However, people are strange if you haven't taken the time to look around and figure that out yet. He was driven by money, have you ever had issues with people you thought you really knew and understood but they changed when money came into the picture?.. The difference is this is a business, and he made everything a business decision. I can hardly fault the guy since I have never had the opportunity to leverage my way into millions of dollars. Money that is only available during a very short window of time and a window that can slam shut at any moment when an injury takes place. My advice, just think back to the days when contracts weren't an issue, when he didn't look sloppy or lazy, and he was just out there playing his ass off and how you felt watching him make magic.
Good points, but it's difficult to ignore the business decisions he made on the field during his second go-round with the Jets. Not to be a smart-ass but when were "the days when contracts weren't an issue"? The guy missed the first 21 days of training camp in his rookie year in a contract squabble. This was before he had played even one down with the Jets.
If you want to think he was the best, fine, but I totally disagree. Deion Sanders was better imo, and there may be 1 or 2 others if I thought about it long enough.
I won't even factor into play the fact that Prime wouldn't make a tackle to save his life, But I will factor in the time difference between when Prime played and Revis. Era of time is a VERY significant factor. The time in which they both played is extremely important due to the fact that the rules in which the game was called changed significantly from Primes career to when Revis was drafted. When prime played you could still head-hunt and smash WR's at the point of contact or after a dropped pass, you could play much more physical on or off the ball, and QB's weren't protected no where near as much then as they were/are post-Revis giving them vastly more time to complete passes to less fearful uncontested WR's that Revis had to cover. Yet, Revis still out played prime flat out regardless. No one has ever single handedly shut down the best WR's in the NFL (not just that teams #1 but the best in the game) week in week out with no safety help on an island the majority of the time, it's unheard of.
LMAO What an ugly portrait of an egotistical jerk Belichek wanted no parts of him /his attitudeand kicked his azz from Patriot land Of course the Jets scoop him up and play right into his rip off as he declines as a skill player ...just stupid management
Players shouldnt be players then. They know what they sign up for & they get paid very handsomely. If they dont feel they owe team any sort if loyalty & cant make due w the occupational hazards or demanding nature then go get a real job like the rest of us. If you wanna play a team sport then you better be prepared to sacrifice. Im sorry the “fight for the little guy” is for the CBA & nothing else.By exonerating these players selfish behavior we lose the beauty of team sports ever so slowly.
Except that is not remotely true to what happened. Revis signed a 2 year deal with the patriots with the 2nd year at a number the patriots knew full well at signing they couldn’t cover but would prevent them from using a tag in him. It may have been around 30 million iirc. It was essentially a one year deal . Saying beli didn’t like his attitude and cut him is just an outright lie, ignorance to the facts or a mixture of both. Other than that, solid post as usual from you
You’re one of my fav posters & people on this board. We agree much more often than not.But i cant understand why we need to be so envious of bellicheat. Minus the winning hesa horrible person,a cheat & has never had a nice thing to say about the jets. Weve tried his “starless” “do your job” method w parcells, groh & mangini. It didnt work & left the team drastically under athletic which we’re still trying to dig ourselves out of now. I want the jets to win while being as opposite of bellicheat as possible. If he hated Revis that actually makes me like Revis slightly more
Kurt please have your opinion which I totally respect I guess I am still living in the past..where BB betrayed Bill Parcells to go to NE and work for Kraft..this just hypes my hatred of the Johnsons who BB and a HOST of recent coaching candidates eg Dan Quinn have run for the hills rather than work for our nincompoop owners (and yes Champ is right about that) I don't like BB ...at all esp as NE Patriot coach but it's the RESULTS he has achieved with or without Brady imo...listen ...after 50 years of waiting I don't have to love a guy or even check his ethical standards if he WINS..(sad but true...sorry) Compared with Toilet B that lineup of coaches looks like gold and coach GM Parcells took to the verge of a SB Rightly or wrongly my WHOLE thinking about how/who a coach is , is entirely SHORT TERM ..many posters here are not that old and can debate how a HC stocks the team for the future..but getting up there in years builds the impatience cynicism and disgust after countless "rebuilds" Revis had his good years pre 2015 and deserved to be paid for his high level of play back then..the fact that BB let him go was because of his poor attitude which the Jets inherited ...so in that respect I feel he was right..but no I don't want to glorify BB..I just wish WE had a much better coach
Oh he was. What player in a Jets Jersey completely dominated his position-Maybe Klecko? 4x first teamer. Looking at your posts you clearly hate him and I get why- but try not to be biased
