I'll bet you just as much that he is (which, of course, neither he nor Boone will ever admit).

Do you really think Cashman would hire a rookie manager with no coaching or managerial experience to manage a team that seems to be on the brink of one or more world championships and let him make all the decisions you think he's making? If Cashman wanted a strong manager, he would have kept Girardi.

As for your business-world analogy, CEOs and VPs don't hire directors and managers with as little experience as Boone.

Yes. I do. Because that’s what a manager’s job is. This isn’t little league. If you don’t think the guy can make the tough decisions, you don’t hire him. If you judge him capable, you hire him. Making those decisions? THAT is what Cashman’s job is.

They do if they think they are the right person.

You know what they don’t do? Hire someone unqualified and then do their job for them. That’s just asinine.

Well, we're just going to have to agree to disagree 'cause you're not going to change my view, and I'm not going to change yours.

Did you catch Sonny in the post-game interviews? He patiently and politely answered all the reporters' questions. I couldn't help but think that if he showed that kind of poise on the mound, he would be the pitcher the Yankees thought they were getting.

I’m cool with being right about this. :p

Good luck if you ever have to build a management team!

    Good win today.

I like to see them win when they aren’t hitting home runs.

Big series in Baltimore. The O's are garbage this year, but they seem to go all in against the Yankees like it's their WS.

Buck Showalter is probably still pissed that he missed out on managing those monster Yankee teams of the late '90s.

Every time i see a red sox score, they are playing a last place team.

They have played the 10 easiest schedule in MLB. Yanks 2nd hardest.

    Could be key come September

Maybe, but they won't be fading away as much as I hate to admit it.

It may all boil down to whether the Yankees or the Red Sox makes the better deal(s) at the trading deadline.

With each team having so many good young players, this rivalry may get back to where it was in the late '70s.

Sonny Gray would be a perennial Cy Young winner if he could make 30 starts a season against the O's.

If you told me before the series that the 2 wins would come from the games started by Cessa and Gray, I would've wondered what good stuff you were on. :p

You can never trust Cloudy Day in a playoff game

Rumors are swirling around that the Yankees are interested in Machado. As good as he is, I'm not sure if acquiring him moves the needle when starting pitching is the biggest weakness now.

Amen, that's the mistake Cashman made after the '03 season. He went out and got A-Rod when their real need was pitching. They had just lost Clemens, Pettite and Wells after the the '03 season. So their real need was to beef up their starting pitching.

Get Machado and then Andujar goes in a deal for a pitcher
