It was a rough job, casting, molten metal, it was down and dirty and paid the bills, but it was right up my alley because anything that doesn't involve heels is fine by me. I was working two full-time jobs at the time, there and at a veterinary hospital, helping to put the old man through school. Arnoldo was half Lenca, and although the Lenca language is dead, I completely believe the shit he would tell me. Sacred wells in the forest disturbed, and after people would raid the wells of gold and trinkets, good luck, Maria. And then I would get an inscrutable look. Don't mess with the indigenous. I mess with Christians all the time because they'll never admit how Pagan Christianity is, but I ain't never going near a well somewhere in Honduras. So that's my Inscrutable Story.
So which guy in the gray suit was the lawyer and which was the defendant who wants to whip it out - white hair or glasses? The medical examiner looks the guiltiest to me.
