I'm so fckn hot. No, I'm not bragging about my looks.

Between hot-flashing, having my dog breathing on me, no Central Air, cooking, baking bread, and a ceiling fan that is essentially blowing hot air from the furnace of Hell upon me in the kitchen, all I can think of is fukk Africa, fukk Mexico, fukk Florida, fukk Bermuda, fukk India, fukk the tropics. And I live in upstate NY.

Oman recorded the highest low sustained temperature ever over the last few days. It never got lower than 108.7 for 51 consecutive hours.

The refugee crisis from the Middle East is going to be insane over the next few decades as temperatures rise. Hopefully they'll head for Siberia, but I have my doubts.

Of course mine went out on Sunday with my son and his girlfriend coming in Tuesday night. Got it fixed and only had to spend one night without air, after first guy out told me I needed a new unit and they couldn't do it for 2 weeks..

Ouch! Did you avoid getting the new unit?

Isn't it funny how it always seems to be on the hottest days that your A/C goes out?

(And yes, I understand why that is a ridiculous question.)

First guy said it was going to be $3600 to repair so I would be better off getting a whole new unit for $5500. Second guy came out and fixed it for $700 and $240 of that was for the leak detection.

Worst part of the whole thing was my wife started telling me Sunday morning there was a problem and I told her she was just imagining it, now I'll be hearing about that for the next month.

    2011, Oman again at 107.4

Again, this is for highest low. The overall high record is in the 130's and is officially attributed to Death Valley but that's likely because Death Valley is well recorded. There are spots in the Afar region of Ethiopia where the elevation is about the same as Death Valley (well below sea level) and the moisture index is higher due to saline springs and streams where higher highs and lows have probably been (not) recorded.

Shortly after I bought my house, I came home from work friday..... opened the front door and "F#@K it's hot..."
Yep AC wasn't working.... when we had RECORD heat for FL in July.
Luckily the seller threw in a "home warranty" with the sale, but the work wasnt going to get done on the weekend.

People thought I was nuts for doing yard work that weekend, but I said "I can sweat my balls off doing stuff outside, or I can sweat my balls off in a stuffy house"

Luckily that warranty covered $1500 worth of repair

After the Matthew remodel, I replaced that old unit with a new Lennox (Up on a 2' aluminum stand this time ;) ) Electric bill is way cheaper than that old thing that was half dead (prob was 20 years old.... I already had plans to replace, but was waiting for winter to save $)

I was thinking about doing some work but my thinking was, there is no relief coming after I finish the work, so I took a couple of days off.

Our's is 12 years old so I am hoping to get a few more years out of it. Old owners did not go cheap with things they put in, not top of the line but decent stuff. AC is a Lennox Elite, water heater is GE SmartWater and roof is shingle but over 3/4 inch tongue and groove boards instead of plywood. All helps to keep our electric bill down, $120 for June and that includes $23 for water, so under $100 for 3 bedroom about 1700 sq ft.
