Who had the Jets Super Bowl III album? A handful, maybe. champ told me years ago that he also had it. When my folks died and I had to clean out their condo, my Daddy still had it. It was chipped, though, so you could only listen to 3/4 of it. I should've kept the album cover. What an idiot I am. The only two year books I kept was '65 & '66 and pretty much dumped everything else (yearbooks) from the early 70s - '97. It was just a really difficult time as I lost my parents a year a part, was kicked off a building by some extended family during that time (I don't talk to them), our friend's 10 mo, old baby perished in a house fire, my childhood friend blew her head off, and I was dealing with my estranged idiot brother (and he's estranged with good reason). I was under tremendous stress, and just wanted it over with. Don't be like me and be an impulse dumper in anger or under pressure. We also lost a lot of Jets memorabilia in one of several basement floods in Flushing Queens. The fckn sewer used to back up. I still have a football with almost every players signature on it from SB III. During one of said idiot floods, a good deal of the signatures got washed off because it wasn't signed in permanent marker (typical Jets). Namath, Sauer, Schmitt, Grantham, are still clearly visible. Boozer, Snell and many others are smudged. : ( I've posted it before. Will do so again.
Sorry IMHO not as iconic as the pix of JWN leaving the field with his finger in the air saying we are #1
Is this a pissing contest? On second thought, definitely not. Ya know why? You didn't do this: I'm actually mildly disturbed.
I had that, too. I also had a similar one for the Knicks - the Super Five and the Minutemen. I’ll need to go up to the attic this weekend. Of course, I no longer have a turntable!
There ya go, matt. Anyone else on here besides me still have those mugs as well? Mine are under lock and key like Bob Kraft's Cheatie ring in the Kremlin.
What year was it when Jean Ratelle, without a helmet, had a puck bounce off his forehead and score for the opposing team? Was it '68? I was only four, but I remember that. The '68 Rangers were pretty damn close to bringing it home, my Daddy was going nuts. Ratelle and Rob Gilbert. It only took 26 more years. Oh, well. :/ The Rangers have been close before '94 and since, but you go oooo, oooo, almost! Ooof! Damn it. Remember the Smurfs, lol. Glad you have the SB mug(s)! Mine have a nice craquelure, probably not safe to drink out of even if I wanted to. I bet you also have the smokey colored bourbon glasses with the white frosted Jets emblem on them. You'd fill up at a Hess station and get one. I had a perfect set of 24, gifted 12 of them to my rabid Jets fan friend, Vinnie, for Father's Day five years ago, because my Daddy, Father's Day . . . I'm sure you know which glasses I mean. I never use them because I'm too afraid of breaking them even though they're worth jack. In the 80s, you'd get regular tall drinking glasses with the 'new' Jets emblem on them at Hess stations, too. We had tons of them. They were really cool. All broken and gone now. Mostly from throwing them against a wall when the Jets did something Jetsesque.
I know you quoted this incorrectly champ, but now you're saying you were personally at the game in Miami? I haven't heard that one before. I did, however, remember that you owned the album. That was when I very first joined here. Your avatar is also from one of my old SB III threads. EDIT & P.S.: Because I quoted him and it didn't work. F my life.
And not nearly as downloaded. Love this because it's a great shot and is a rare different view of JWN leaving the field as Champion of the world!
Trying to find a picture of a handful written and signed card from Namath for my father. Did some auction work for Joe a few years back with an appearance and he was great. Refused a car, drove himself. Larger than life as you could imagine
No I watched SB3 from the comfort of my den in Hazlet NJ. I do not ever think I posted I was in Miami For SB3 U may be confusing my attendance at both the Championship game & the game in New Haven. I really would like to C the post U R referring to. No my avatar pic was the Front page of the Daily News After the championship & SB3 win I purchased every publication I could find & I still have them somewhere in my home
I had the Jets one, the Mets one (1969), and the Islanders one (1980). I still have the Mets and Islanders ones (just checked), but the Jets one appears to have disappeared. I should get someone with a digital turntable to convert the two I have to mp3's...
