I wouldn't take that trade. We spent a lot more than a single high pick to obtain Darnold. In your scenario I'd keep both QB's. However, McCown played like a top 15 QB last season, and will be the starter again in 2018. Darnold I expect will be the 2019 starter. Bridgewater will be the new Petty around here, as everyone loves the backup QB.
I'll bet anything that Sam plays this season. There isn't a chance that fans will buy into the third player drafted sitting the weekly season. Fans won't be happy with McCown or Teddy playing more than a handful of games. If any
Playing McCown or Teddy is better than putting out a developmental 21 yr old too soon. fans will have to be patient. And I don't think this coaching staff will worry about Jet fan complaints, as they literally complain about everything anyway.
nice to hear teddy is doing well. He has a legit shot to beat mccown out for the job and is just a better QB then mccown when healthy.
His knee is holding up just fine and he looks just as sharp and strong as he did in August 2016 just before the knee injury. Teddy Bridgewater will WIN the starting job by August based on performance. However the Jets brass has plans and I doubt they alter them. No matter how well Teddy plays, the Jets will be praying for a starting QB in the NFL to go down with a major injury so they can trade Teddy ASAP so there will be no obstacles for the Darnold Plan.
As much as I love the Darnold pick, I’ve always loved Teddy and I’d really like to see him do well. If we didn’t draft Sam I’d be rooting for Teddy to be our 12 year starter. It feels weird to me that I want both of these guys to excel.
"His knee is holding up just fine" What are you basing that statement on? The 9 plays he ran in ota's? His knee looked just fine when he returned to practice in Oct 17 too. Whether it holds up to multiple practices is a complete guess. He had no issues with movement last year but after several weeks of practice, he experienced extreme swelling and pain. Let's hope he fully recovers, he's a great kid , but to procaim him healthy at this point is extremely premature.
If there's a fair competition for the starting job, there is no way on earth that McCown beats out Teddy. McCown isn't a scab on Teddy ass talentwise
Yeah, cautiously optimistic. But I could almost see him favoring the leg a little...maybe it was the massive brace or a psychological awareness of his condition. At least his health is part of the reason they dumped Hack at any rate, I hope.
God I hope they aren’t making decisions based on what fans want. Listening to the fans is a good way to end up sitting with them
This is like how Caesar couldn’t wait for Plato and Aristotle’s report out on the Total QBR of Hannibal at the Carpatian Pass. It was fucking Wayne Elephant Hunter’s fault!!
Whatever happens happens. But I don't think I've ever seen two guys be more immune to the outside noise and dirt slinging than Mac and Bowles. That it's with the fucking Jets is even more impressive. Add to it that they've completely shut down any leaks to contribute to that cacophony, and the local hacks are getting nothing, is impressive again. Patience is a virtue, and common sense too.
And you know it's too soon to play Darnold just how? People have called Darnold the best prospect since Luck. Mariota & Winston played. Wentz played. Goff played some. Others have played. If he's ready he will play. I'm not saying play him no matter what. I'm saying don't say he isn't playing no matter what
We can't be so naive to think that the pressure to play a top draft pick QB won't effect any team. Look at history, when was the last time a high 1 sat
Goff didn’t play till week 9. Just to be clear. And I believe Darnold is the best prospect since Luck and I loved Marcus, Teddy and Carr.
