One nfl team abstained. The 49ers Chris voted YES and then offers this cowardly bullshit. The issue has been resolved league wide. This bullshit will not persist on our sidelines.
Yes, the kneeling has contributed to some lower attendance in military cities (ex: JAX, where there was a vocal naval boycott.... and Shad Khan didnt give a damn and took the field with his players) but overall it's mostly being used as an excuse by people. I think oversaturation and watering down of the product, while making it more expensive has contributed much more, not to mention there's no way it could sustain the same growth. How many more people that arent really football fans can they get to play fantasy football? They're really just turning off their core base
It's amazing that you think Johnson speaking out AGAINST fellow owners and admitting he had to vote yes because he felt the need to is cowardly. I couldn't be more proud to be a Jet fan.
He is a coward. A spineless coward. He voted for it, fans are happy, enforce it Because guess what, you're fans arent rachel maddow. They are proud patriotic americans who will not stand for the jets being team disrespect america
I'm a fan and I am fine with anthem protests. As are the millions upon millions of fans that watch the NFL weekly. Face it: not everyone cares. In fact most people don't.
I think Christopher has already done a far better job than Woody ever has. Woody should let him stay in control.
I recognize that, but I think you are representative of about 8% of our fanbase. We are not shrill America hating snowflakes
I am not in support of anthem protests but you're wrong. Not all fans are against it, just like not all fans are for it. If he wants to do this for his guys it's not hurting anyone.
I think in your view (btw we have the same position on the topic) it's 8%. But that's jaded. I think people are sick of it being a part of football, but at the same time that doesn't mean they are against the act itself. I am against it, I think its ridiculous. But the # is higher than 8%.
I think you should speak for yourself and maybe 10% that actually care about this. Go on any social media site about the Jets, the majority are happy about the owner's stance. To me, I am happy he is giving his players freedom. How about making the game just better in general? The rules are awful right now.
I'm not sure anyone in here said the NFL is screwed because of the issue but the older "draft" demographic was absolutely turned off to the whole issue and it certainly made an impact. Also, this wasn't some little nagging aspect of the business -- this became a national issue in which government officials became involved and opined on. If ratings were the only driving factor and the NFL wasn't being impacted on the bottom line, they wouldn't have done shit. This is not to say the NFL was in dire turmoil because of the issue.
I don't think there is any correlation between the NFL losing ratings and the protests. - Streams - Injuries to great players (Odell, JJ Watt, Watson, Aaron Rodgers) - Shitty rules - Bad football play in general Look at those at your reasons why ratings got lost. Even so the draft pulled some amazing ratings.
He said he would enforce it. He would pay any fine accrued. He just isn't a 'triggered' snowflake. there is life outside of all the outrage lol
I'm 43. It is my sincere hope that before I die the Jets finally get ownership that is not either incompetent or a complete POS (or both). This guy is a disgrace. He can do whatever he wants; he owns the team. But I am also entitled to express my opinion that the guy is a douchebag.
