https://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/national-anthem-christopher-johnson-fines-1.18700702 Where the hell has Christopher Johnson been this whole time? The man just gets is. I'm rooting for a second Trump term just so Woody has to stay away another four years. This makes me proud to be a Jets fan.
Let's not lose our heads...... but yes, this dude is WAY cooler than his brother, and hopefully stays in the driver seat. I like that he's not afraid to say FU, when you consider the big picture
Chris is a breath of fresh air. Hopefully Woody's enjoying his time in the UK and will stay for at least another 6 years.
Good for CJ, he seems to be more in tune and empathetic with his employees. That being said, to protect the business, the NFL had to make an official stand with regards to this issue. An alarming number of fans disappeared because of this.
The locker room will love this as will the media. Chris is working hard at showing up big brother..So far so good
I guess we know who has the bigger Johnson Actually we really don't, I just wanted to make a Johnson joke.
Vote was unanimous according to Goodell -- so Johnson either abstained from voting or voted in favor. Bottom line talks.
10 of the top 20 rated shows so far in 2018 have been NFL games. There were only 11 NFL games in 2018. Ratings are not hurting, sponsors are not leaving, TV deals are not crumbling, merch sales aren't falling. I don't want to turn this into a protest discussion, but the NFL is doing juuuuust fine.
I’m hoping that Johnson's gesture to the Jet players is reciprocated by the Jet players deciding NOT to kneel and not force Johnson to pay any fines. It’s not about the money, obviously it’s pocket change to Johnson but I think it’d look really crappy for a player to blatantly go against the owners wishes. Johnson wants everyone to stand but he respects a players decision (not a right) to kneel.
I think Johnson want’s players to stand but won’t punish a player for kneeling. Let’s hope these guys get the hint.
He voted in favor as not to cause a rift with the owners but did so knowing he would declare he would handle the fines as to appease his morals. it's near the end of the article.
Cord cutting, lack of parity, absurd new rules, slow/long games, a poor in stadium experience, over saturation, a clueless league office and yes anthem protests have all contributed to numbers starting to shrink. Even then they are still easily the top of the mountain for North American sports and TV. I suspect the route they are going will continue to slowly kill the golden goose.
While the NFL is still doing “fine”, and nothing is crumbling, it’s product as a whole is down overall and in a sport that was growing year-over-year it’s clearly off that hockey stick. https://amp.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/feb/6/nfl-ratings-down-due-anthem-protests-survey/ https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...admit-kneeling-protests-hurt-their-attendance
And at the end of the day, like I said, the ratings are still high, the TV deals are in place (and will only grow, see: WWE), sponsors aren't going anywhere and merch sales will NEVER die. Of course there are residual effects, but to pretend like the NFL is screwed and this is killing their business... that's just wrong.
