Yes Darnold probably won’t start but McCown wasn’t the reason we lost games last year. There are good pieces in Offence and Defense to be hopeful about. What do you guys think?
Alexa, what are my chances of opening this thread and seeing Ji-- Your chances of seeing Jim Mora's face are 92%.
Let's see how they start off. 3-3 is about the minimum start to think they might have a shot next year. The last 6 games are pretty brutal though. They probably need to be no worse than 7-3 going into that stretch to have a real chance.
I think McCown starts the first 4 games due to schedule 3 of 4 on road & I believe we play 3 games in 10 days (monday, Sunday & thursday) that's a lot to ask of a rookie. I think the perfect game to play Sam is home game 6 vs the Colts. Game 5 is vs the Broncos and their great pass rush. Let him start against a weak Colts team, giving him a chance to win & 10 more games this year to break him in for the '19 season. I would be happy with Sam starting 11 games this year. That would be enough time to get use to the speed of the NFL & pick McCown brains and learn the nuances of being a starting QB. As far as playoffs, I'm really not worried about playoffs in '18. If we make the playoffs this year when we're breaking in our rookie qb that would be near amazing & a great sign of things to come.
It sure would be nice, but I can't see it. Not enough talent and I just don't have faith in the HC. I hope I'm wrong. It's been WAY too long.
The D because of Bowles and Rodgers and Bowles' passive/conservative game management. No, I don't think we'll make the playoffs unless Darnold comes in after 3 games and leads a magical run with the Jets like he did the Trojans in 2016 or Teddy starts, stays healthy, plays very well, the OL plays better than we think, and all the rookies, young players play really well, and we avoid any serious injuries.
It's realllly unlikely but it could happen, I mean the bills made it last year and imo they were pretty freaking terrible from a talent standpoint and no better then us.
Well, if the stars align and the moon is in Pisces, we still won't make the playoffs even in the Age of Aquarius. Team needs more time to jell. Particularly on the offense which has 2 new coordinators and 1 new system to learn. Not to mention the upcoming Qb transition and Wr shakeout. Nope.. No way in hell this team makes the playoffs. I think the challenge will be can this team win 8 games.. Best way to ruin a potentially good dinner is to undercook it..
No. If they are competitive this year and make progress say 8-8 I would be OK with that. I would love for them to make it but I think they need another solid draft and FA to really have a shot. If things go well I could see playoffs in 2019 maybe the division as the Pats have to decline at some point but not this year.
Next year the window starts to open, assuming darnold is what darnold was drafted to be,with 2020 as the first prime year.
