https://www.yardbarker.com/mobile/content/article/s1_14819_26422265 Apparently he’s visiting the Colts first, but if there’s no deal we’re the next stop. Wouldn’t be mad at this signing for depth and potential 3 safety looks. Surprised he’s still on the market.
After months of gridlock, teams are making arrangements to meet with some of this free agent class’ top safeties. Kenny Vaccaro could be on his way to a second visit this week. If the Colts summit does not produce a signing, Mike Garafolo of NFL.com reports (on Twitter) Vaccaro will visit the Jets. A Jets fit would be interesting, with New York having invested its 2017 first- and second-round picks in the position, but Vaccaro also has experience in the slot. And Garafolo notes he could potentially play linebacker in sub-packages. Both Vaccaro and Tre Boston are meeting with the Colts on Monday, with Garafolo adding the Vaccaro/Indy meeting will begin tonight. Veteran signings teams make now do not count toward the compensatory formula, likely accelerating the action on the non-Eric Reid safety market. A 2013 Saints first-round pick and five-year starter, Vaccaro also visited the Dolphins this offseason. Behind Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye, the Jets are thin at safety. The recently re-signed Terrance Brooks and 2016 UDFA Doug Middleton comprise Gang Green’s depth here. Slot corner Buster Skrine remains on the roster despite a hefty salary
Don't ask me why I saw Brenda Vaccaro! I don't know! I'm guessing he also talks ten octaves lower than humanly possible and wheezes like an accordion while he's doing it! Signed, -Mrs. championjets69
I'd like this signing a lot, Kenny battled some injuries and was a little penalty prone, but he can do a little bit of everything...Can play in the box ala what Adams did last year, and can play in coverage too...Bit of a playmaker too...He may settle for a 1 year deal being so late in the off season...I'm up for it
We have the money & injuries do happen so I'm always down to add quality players. With several really good safeties still on the FA list prob get good value. If not Vaccaro, I'd be open to Boston or Reid but FA I really want is DT Johnathan Hankins but that isn't happening
She had a great voice and I once worked with her cousin,,,,,but Im not sure if either could play safety ,,,,just sayin
i dont understand why the Jets would be interested in another safety. Like someone else said, I supposed 1 of them would play the LB/S hybrid position
Do we still have Doug Middleton? I think he had a year ended in camp last year but he was really promising especially on special teams. He’s another solid backup.
Yup we do. We have Middleton, Brooks and Miles as our backup safeties. There is def gonna be an odd man out with that group.
Rontez Miles, another of those meh players we love to love. It add little. Westerman, Clowney, Ratliff, Simms, there's always a few.
Well, our HC is a former DB and DC so that pretty much answers the question. Injuries happen, and Vaccaro would greatly upgrade our depth at S and provide a lot more positional and scheme versatility.
