Why don't you have one of your grandkids re-read this thread and explain to you what's going on.

I don't think so, I was under the impression that they're just taken off of your PS and that's it. I know the rules on PS have been changed before so I could very well be wrong

No they didn't tank. They sucked because they lost Peyton for a season. Their good fortune was that was the year Luck came out and no one was worse.

I tried to look it up. You may be right, but in the same sense the player could inform the team about an offer they received and be moved to an active roster. Players aren't forced to sign on another team, it would basically be like they are free agents that can practice and be paid for practicing with 1 team

    I did find this
"a player under contract to a club as a Practice Squad player is completely free to sign a contract with another NFL club during the season in order to be on the second club's Active/Inactive (i.e., 53 man) list. A practice squad player may not sign an NFL Player Contract with his Club's next opponent later than 4:00 p.m., New York time, on the sixth day preceding the game (except in bye weeks, when the prohibition commences on the tenth day preceding the game). If another club signs a Practice Squad player to its 53 man roster it does not have to provide any sort of compensation to the player's former club but it generally must keep the player on the 53 man roster for at least 3 weeks, thereby mandating that he earns in 2007 the minimum first year salary for said 3 week period ($285,000 prorated weekly).

    Nope, no ROFR.

Completely free to sign with anyone offering to sign them (unless they are playing that team that week).

I guess a PS player could refuse but the $$ difference is geometrically greater so I can’t believe a player would refuse.

Dreams of Rosen. Reality of Petty. Rough offseason continues for the Dolphins.

I think there's no going back. My understanding is if, for example, there Pats wanted a player they just put in a claim and the player is then aquired. The player now belongs to the Pats. The player can't go anywhere but NE.

there isn't a claim or wire. they are essentially just free agents who get paid to practice. They can sign with anyone who makes them an offer but there isn't a claim system like waivers because they aren't technically signed to any team

    yup
    http://theredzone.org/Blog-Description/EntryId/69888/Dolphins-claim-QB-Bryce-Petty-off-waivers
The Miami Dolphins have claimed former New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty off waivers, ESPN reports.

Petty was let go Thursday by the Jets, who tried to trade him during the draft but found no takers.

A fourth-round choice in 2015, Petty posted a 1-6 record as a starter over the past two seasons. All told, he threw 10 interceptions and four touchdowns and completed just 53 percent of his attempts. His progress also was slowed by injuries, including a torn labrum in his nonthrowing shoulder in the 2016 finale.

Well, this is a surprise. I thought for sure he'd head back home to Texas. If they can get Petty straightened out, the fish will be in pretty good shape Qb wise.

I would make a castoff joke but we have 3 players from the 0-16 browns that should be playing a big role in our offense, so who am i to judge
