Luckily the Jets drafted Sam Darnold and I was on a high, otherwise tonight's game would have crushed my spirit! 2-0 lead in 3rd after a nice Ovechkin goal, dominating most of the game, then somehow the Pens get 3 instant goals. Can't make this stuff up. Frustrating to say the least.
The frustrating part is the opportunities they had early in the game to bury the pens. I was talking to a friend of mine and I told him, those blown opportunities are going to come back and bite them.

Me too. It was clear it would cost them. Dominating through 2 periods and only up 1-0. Then Ovechkin made it 2-0 and I thought "Wow, my sports luck is changing. Walk off Gary Sanchez HR, Jets get Darnold, and now Caps dominating Pens up 2-0! What a day!" I spoke too soon.............
Didn’t get to see the game last night but I had a feeling when my buddy told me pens took the lead in the 3rd that Washington had another lapse and gave up a bunch in minutes. 3 goals in 4 minutes it turned out. Maybe Washington blowing the first two games against Columbus will help them in this situation? Gotta be frustrating...
Helleybuck proving it...stopped 47 shots tonight. Jets are strong and skilled though didn’t manage too many shots. Capitalized on their chances for sure
Yeah, that game was nuts. Hats off to the Jets. They truly are a great team this year. Meanwhile in the East: Ovechkin gets the game winning goal that the Caps can never get against the Penguins to take a 2-1 series lead. Great effort by the whole team tonight. No time to pat themselves on the back though: need 2 more wins.
He has gotten into the Penguins and their fans heads. That is for sure. All I see online is talking about Wilson, instead of actually talking about hockey. Both hits were tough, and I feel bad that Pen broke his jaw, but I have seen much worse. I bet Wilson is suspended though. He has a bad reputation and then having borderline hits in back to back games, it just adds up to a suspension. I like the way he has played though too. He brings the grit and power, allowing Ovechkin and Kuznetsov to run wild on the ice.
Pens are just mad because they are getting a taste of their own medicine, Honrqvuist is just as a thorn in the caps side as Wilson is the Pens. Smith Pelley invited Hornqvuist to drop the gloves but Hornqvuist refused, shows me he’s nothing but a punk. Smith Pelley and Connolly line are doing an excellent job of giving the Caps some grit and depth. Keep it going Caps, and Ovie for as much as I love him, play some defense dude, especially on the back check! Go Caps!!
Ovechkin, you keep being you! Score some more GWG's! Yeah, the depth of this Caps team is much more gritty than past years. Need to keep it up.
Wilson suspended 3 games. The Penguins get the usual boost they need to win a series. It does seem to always go the Pens way, but I am not going to complain too much because Wilson brought this on himself. I thought maybe 1 game tops, but I am not shocked. Caps need to focus and adjust accordingly.
3 games is too much, he’s 6’4 the other guy is 6’ tall, of course it’s going to look bad. It’s the only way to beat the Pens, be physical with them. It was not dirty or intentional, it was just a play that turned out worst because of the size differences.
