Some best of the rest considerations CB Parry Nickerson - a small undersized CB who is fast and tough with good ball skills. not a starting CB in the NFL but in the days of nickel packages being used more and more, he could be a nickle CB and take the place of skrine when he gets cut after the 2018 season most likely. for the time being can contribute on special teams and play the role of dime back possibly Projected round 4-5 OT Jaryd Jones Smith a guy i mocked to the jets over a month ago in the 6th round i'll copy and paste what i wrote there An interesting prospect since nobody really knows where he will line up in the NFL. Could be a LT, a RT, a Swing T, or even a guard. A big bodied lineman at 6'6" 320 lbs he's shown a good ability to use his long arms and protect against the pass rush, but hasn't shown the strength and athletic ability as a valid run blocker. still with some added weight and strength training and coaching, he could develop into a future LT for us protecting darnolds blindside in a few years or at worst, provide good depth as a swing tackle for depth against injury to the starters. it's the 6th round so you can't expect an all star projected round 4-5 WR Equanimeous St Brown a big athletic WR with ball skills and college production. Likely wind up being a WR3 in the NFL maybe at best a decent WR2 but i love his potential and red zone ability. could be a 1k yard guy on the right team. Projected round 3-4 TE Dalton Schultz a big and fast TE that's a good blocker but struggles with routes and getting open and lacked production in college. at worst could be a solid blocking TE in the NFL but with some good coaching could devlop into a solid recieving TE projected round 3 OT Desmond Harrison tons of talent and size, but very raw as a player and questionable character. going to be quite a project and a risk but in the 6th round who really cares projected round 5-6 Edge Rusher Marcell Frazier a guy i mocked to the jets a month ago , A pass rushing OLB for the jets. High motor guy. 6' 5" 255 size and good skill level, helps make up for his lack of pure athleticism. he has a good variety of pass rush moves. Will likely never be an every down LBer but can be used as a situational pas rusher which we badly need. Projected Round 5-6 TE Tyler Conklin a guy i mocked to the jets a month ago, A good size TE with speed. 6'3" 254 lbs with a 4.8 40 yard dash. His hands are incosistent, but he's also made some really good catches. Tough player who will make catches over the middle and take the hit. A former basketball player who also shows some blocking ability as well. His stock dropped because in 2017 he missed the first 5 games of the year with an injury and didn't look fully healed after. Once he gets back to his normal ability and with some coaching he could be a steal Projected Round 5 CB Greg Stroman Stroman was one of the top punt returners in college with an 11.3 average and 2 TDs. Bowles also loves his DBs and adding depth is never a bad thing. outside of our top 3 (and claiborne and/or skrine could be gone in 2019) we just have a bunch of potential and not much solid. we also lack a returner even though we signed Roberts. Adding stroman would give us our starting PR/KR as well as extra depth at CB. he'll likely never start at CB but could carve out a roll as a nickel/dime CB and special teamer projected Round 7 OG KJ Malone A project guard with NFL size but lacks balance and technique. likely a career backup of he makes it in the NFL at all, but in the 7th round that's all you can find anyway. Never a bad idea to take some more chances on o-line to delevop projected Round 7 Antonio Callaway a stud WR with 2nd round talent and a ton of off-field issued. was originally thought to drop into the 3rd or 4th round had another issue pop up a few days before the draft dropping him into the 7th round or undraftable status. could be a laverneous coles like steal though
DE Alabama Da’Shawn Hand OT N.C. st Will Richardson OLB Central Florida Shaq Griffin EDGe Utah Kylie Fitts OT Oregon Tyler Crosby Edge Florida st Josh Sweat OT Cole Madison Washington St A few guys I’m interested in obtaining Dream scenario Da’Shawn Hand DE Alabama -4th rd Cole Madison OT Wash st or Will Richardson OT N.C. There are several pass rushers and a couple receivers along with a CB, OT, and TE that look interesting. At least one of them should be there when we pick.
I'm a big LSU fan, and I'd pass on Malone. He was a below average player and was replaced at LT by an incoming freshman guard. If you want to take a chance on a player from LSU, I'd go after RB Darrel Williams or CB Kevin Toliver. Williams doesn't have a lot of speed, but he runs hard and can contribute on 3rd downs right away since he can catch and pass block. Toliver is a former #1 ranked CB out of high school that didn't perform like people expected at LSU.
I wouldn't mind us selecting Shaquem Griffin, we need an LB and again this guys character is off the charts, determined to succeed etc
Tim Settle DT Dorance Armstrong OLB/Edge Michael Dickson Punter Durham Smythe TE Dalton Schultz TE Tony Adams G
ILB - Josey Jewell OLB - Josh Sweat (Kevin Greene coaching him up) WR - Marcell Ateman (Steelers got James Washington who I really liked, but his partner is legit too) LT / RT - Tyrell Crosby (Need some nasty run blockers)
Others I am interested in for day 3. At this point it’s hard to call it by rounds so here’s a list. CB Southern U Danny Johnson- want this kid pretty bad on our team. OG Arizona St Sam Jones CB Boston College Kamrin Moore DE UCLA Matt Dickerson OT Army Brett Toth DE Old Dominion Olubunmi Rotimi CB Wyoming Ricco Gafford OLB South Carolina U Skai Moore DE Justin Lawler SMU CB Tulane Parry Nickerson Already mentioned DE Alabama Da’Shawn Hand OT OregonTyler Crosby OT N.C. St Will Richardson OLB Central FL Shaq Griffin EDGE Utah Kylie Fitts EDGE Florida St Josh Sweat OT Washington St Cole Madison 4th round my sights are set on Da’Shawn Hand pretty heavily. The. Sights set on Shaq Griffin in the 5th or 6th! Get me some of these guys Mac and I’ll be happy with day 3!
Love this kid. Character, toughness, drive... And a sick athlete - 4.38 ‘40. His brother 2017 - 3rd round CB is looking like a solid starter for Seattle. He’s the player we thought we were getting when we drafted Darron Lee.
I like him too. Strictly schematically speaking, does he fit the Jets defense from a size perspective? The only linebacker the Jets have on the roster with similar size is Micah Awe. The next closest linebacker, who will actually be on the 53, is Darron Lee at 6'1 232. Shaq Griffin is 6'0 227. Our OLBs look like this: Freddie Bishop 6'3 255 Dylan Donahue 6'3 248 Jordan Jenkins 6'3 259 Josh Martin 6'3 245 Lorenzo Mauldin 6'4 259 I'm not sure he fits the Jets schematic.
round 4, Josh Sweat, OLB, FSU round 5, Jaryd Jones-Smith, OT, Pitt round 6, Bradley Bozeman, C, Alabama round 7, Zaire Franklin, ILB, Syracuse
Weapons for Darnold, Protection for Darnold. Wouldn't mind a pass rusher but there must be something wrong with sweats Knee. Okowronkwo would be fine. I really want to go with an upside WR like Eq st brown
