Bates catchers praise from one of the better coaches of all time and leada garbage ass Jay Cutler to the pro bowl but I’m sure it’s his fault that Bryce Petty is terrible...
I still can’t belive there are Petty fans around here who want to blame his lack of talent on anyone and everyone but Petty. He was a mid round project QB. It’s nothing but his own inability that has kept him on the bench. People need to stop making excuses for him.
Get whatever you can for Petty and let him start afresh somewhere else. As for Hackenberg, I can't see him being on the Jets at the end of camp if Bridgewater proves his fitness to play. I doubt if you could get anything from any team for him.
Charlie Whitehurst too. While I’m sure it sucks moving all the time it has to be pretty awesome logging ten years of service on the NFL pension for playing 20ish games and just being a good guy to hang out with in the QB room.
I was thinking a box of cinnamon toast crunch and a pez dispensor (pez optional. some of them are vintage and worth money)
If it’s true that teams called for him and we don’t trade him for the last pick in the 7th round at minimum it’s a misstep.
I find it interesting that teams are looking to acquire him. Are they doing that with McCown and Hackenberg. I heard one of the teams is the Texans which is really ironic because O'Brien is Hackenberg former coach. Even he doesn't want him as a back up. Just because Petty stunk with the Jets doesn't say much to me. the Jets stunk as a whole before Petty got here and maybe a few years after he leaves. So don't hang it all on Petty.
Yea - sure, all the sudden teams are lining up to trade for fucking Bryce Petty. Who believes this shit? The Jets would instantaneously take the first trade offer made for Petty if one was actually made. The "sources" are likely Jets FO people trying to drum up a market. Not happening.
I hope that it's true, and agree with others that we should take the first offer. We're going to have to cut him anyway, which the whole league knows, so I can't imagine this has any teeth.
There are a number of posters here where if a players isn't an immediate HOFer, he's a bust, he sucks and they hate him.
I actually understand teams interested in Petty. He is a decent talent and has actual NFL starting experience. Trading a 6th or 7th Round pick for Petty instead of using it on a QB who is worse with no experience makes sense. HOWEVER, every team should also know that there is 0 chance Petty remains on the Jets, and should just wait it out.
I guess it's easy to look really good for a Baylor spread offense. Against divisional cupcake opposition. The NFL. A league of it's own. Grown men. The reason why most SEC QB's struggle is because they face future defensive NFL pro's every Saturday. If you can dominate the SEC, as a QB; that impresses me more than whooping up on a schedule featuring mediocre college D's. I love how CLE took Mayfield. We got the real deal NFL QB in Darnold. Kid is a gamer. Petty? Just isn't a Franchise option.
I guess that the teams contacting the Jets about Petty had a bad connection and got cut off,,,,,,just sayin
He did the best he could and gave it 100%. He didn't make it. The OL didn't do shit for him to boot. But to hate the guy for it? How pathetic?
