I just don't think this current regime doesn't get that lucky or is that skillful. Heck, we had Snacks on the team who was pretty good and they let him walk away without any effort to sign him.
Well, I look at it this way - he's a max effort kid that seemingly loves to play football. Sounds to me like the complete opposite of the guy he's replacing the last 2 years...
Yes, in retrospect they let the wrong one go or paid the wrong ones which ever way you want to look at it.
Most of all though, hopefully this pick will free up Leo on the line and it will be like gaining two players.
Yeah love the attitude.. If you guys notice (age aside) Mac is going for humble blue collar hard working dudes like Sam and this man Sounds good...But Will this guy be corrupted by $ like Wilk? We will see OTOH This guy has to transition from what Div 3 to the NFL?? Can he do it?? When our OL collapses in shambles and our Star QB is on his back or forcing TO people will see the Light that DL NOT the priority imo More of an emotional pick This could be a Rebound effect from the lazy azz miss a meeting half effort Mo Wilk
The Jets took Sione Pouha in the 3rd round back in 2005 despite his age and being a project and it took some time but he was a VITAL part to that Jets defense in 09 and 10 and he allowed the David Harris', the Bart Scott's to do what they needed to do into what was a borderline dominant defense both those years. This was after Kris Jenkins' injuries which left Pouha and Devito scrapping up front when stopping the run. Age doesn't mean anything, if you can get production for a good chunk of a rookie's 4 year deal, you made a good pick and have a chance to reup them for one contract before the inevitable decline. Think it's a good pick based off reading everything, the strength is there and the desire is too, just the technique needs to be refined since teams will scheme to knock him off balance and have him out of plays. His discipline and ability to diagnose a play and try to stop it before it starts needs to be worked on but it seems the guy is a fast learner from everything that I have read.
Nice write up at his senior bowl week. https://247sports.com/nfl/denver-br...rd-Turning-Heads-At-The-Senior-Bowl-114164448. I can’t stop thinking of Blair Thomas who fooled us at the senior bowl
Calm yourself. I was legit asking when was the last time it happened. Not asking as if it never happened.
He's division 2 not D3... And there's not a chance you've watched a single game of his so you are just bashing a guy you know nothing about. That's lunacy
People acting like this guy was a reach. He fell to the third and was one of the better players left on the board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This guy isn’t a late bloomer either. He had to put his college career on hold to work to pay for school. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This dude is built like a fucking tank ... notably around the same size as Mo, but far more in shape. 3-4 DE, kick him inside on passing downs as a DT.
He was in Mike Mayocks top 50 and in a few others as well. The kid is going to be a good interior presence. At least we have some depth in the middle now. I am going to predict he ends up becoming a steady fixture on the line this year.
I remember Pouha and although he developed into a pretty good starter, that was his ceiling. With Sheppard, I also feel like that will be his best case scenario. Getting decent/good starters in the 3rd Round is never a bad thing, but I really am frustrated with the constant refusal to help our offense/young QBs. I would have preferred to see them draft an offensive lineman that maybe has a lower floor, but with the potential to become a stud. I don’t think we get that out of a guy like Shep.
First thing I thought was, Holy Crap, Shepherd has cannonballs for biceps. I hope it works out for us - and for him. I'm going to make a topical, superficial comment, but it's refreshing to see someone without shitty tattoos all over the place (NOT a race thing, before someone busts a cap in my ass). I'm just not a tattoo person. Thank God he doesn't look like 'Lil Peep. Yes, I have Tatt Bias. It's not a judgment thing or that having tattoos like you're Ray Bradbury's Illustrated Man means you're a thug or anything, I just think people go overboard sometimes. It's overkill. One or two meaningful ones or if it's indigenous (I'm 1000% down with that), cool. Looking like a 5 year old kid went ballistic with Crayola crayons in a dollar store coloring book, not so much. Eh, it's subjective, of course. What was this about again? Right, Nathan Shepherd.
I doubt the Jets watched him either. Nobody goes to Fort Hays. I've been to Kansas and people from Kansas want out of there. The Jets needed some other pieces and this guy could not have been that high on their board.
