He was listed as the 4th best available on ESPN: "Shepherd is a hard-charger who flashes the ability to get off blocks quickly and is an above-average tackler with a good motor. But the level of competition he faced in Division II is a concern. Loves Barenaked Ladies and SCTV" I added the last sentence.
Eh it's not three years ago where we had all this d-line depth with Mo, Richardson and Snacks, they're all gone now. Third round and beyond is the time for project picks. I would prefer addressing the o-line but they've never seemed to prioritize it in the draft and to be fair their no-name line did better than everyone thought last year.
Regardless of the position, I hate hearing the word 'project' associated with a 3rd round pick. I don't mind it if the pick is selected on day 3, but not on day 1 or 2...
I've never heard of Nathan Shepherd and also never heard of Fort Hays State but this dude kind of plays like an animal.
What a pathetic pick. Plenty of OL and OLB available. A D2 DT with our only day 2 pick is DESPICABLE.
I will say this, after this pick by Mac I mind even less that he gave up all his 2's lol...he's been a terrible drafter when the 'best player in the draft' doesn't fall to him.
Maybe this dudes really good I honestly don’t know but couldn’t we have gotten him like 3 rounds later ? Haha
