Juju smith-schuster just bucked the trend last year of "the USC WR" so it seems fair that his former teammate will do the same at the QB position.
This is an enormous cringe worthy oxy moron... but here is a decent article on Darnold by Cimini with commentary from Mark Sanchez: http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/75956
I just wanted to point out how crazy it is that we have a “welcome to the Jets Sam Darnold“ thread. If you would have told me six months ago this was going to be the case, I would have told you no chance in hell.
After reading the thread from behind I realized I made a mistake. I removed his ban. @Rollo Tomassi isn't banned anymore.
I was a Rosen guy all the way and so thankful that he is not in our division. But I am not going to bash this pick in any way, shape or form. There is really no legitimate argument to bash Mac for this pick even if you don't agree or like it. Most had him rated as the #1 QB on the board and the #1 pick overall. He has the size and tools to be a successful NFL qb. I was very skeptical moving up in the draft as early as we did with no guarantee who would be there when we picked. Mac rolled the dice and won big time. Kudos to him. Having McCown back for another year with this pick is a blessing that could pay dividends. Hopefully we can patient and not rush Sam to the field too quickly. Thank goodness for the Browns otherwise we probably would have been stuck with Mayfield who will be out of football before his first contract expires.

Well I think dating back close to a year ago everyone assumed he was going to be the first overall pick. And even though everybody had fun pretending the Jets were going to be the worst team in the league I never once thought we were going to pick first. Then half the season goes by and it becomes apparent we might not even be in the top five. Then the season ends and we are out of the top five. Darnold was just never an option in my mind and now it’s real. You know the show on MTV Catfish? That weekly scene where the two people finally meet and they can’t believe that they are actually standing next to each other? That’s what this feels like.
Sounds like a sooky pissant. He'd wanna back up with some serious actions spouting shit like that. Mayfield seems like a bit of a gimmick QB and a punk to boot. My impression (solely emotional, nothing solid to back it up) is that he's gonna end up another Manziel bust. Serious personality issues. Darnold seems to have a decent head on his shoulders and is the youngest to boot. Attitude goes a long way in determining who will make it as a pro. Of course you need talent but talent only gets you so far.
Darnold is bigger, more athletic, more mobile, more durable, throws much better on the run, rolling out both ways, is more creative and throws into tighter windows. Rosen is mechanically better and can read defenses better. And is two concussions from being out for 6 weeks and 3-4 concussions from being out of the league. I'll take Darnold every single day of the week and ESPECIALLY on Sunday (and I would have been fine with Rosen). Darnold is the best QB in this draft. The whining is really unnecessary.
I was on the Suck for Sam train since last year and was none too happy we won a few worthless games knocking us out of the Sam Sweepstakes. We were supposed to be 0-16 and have that first pick. And was even more infuriated that the Giants, who were supposed to go to the playoffs, secured the two pick and were primed to take OUR franchise QB. The turn of events last night dropping Darnold into our laps signifies to me that our bad luck--this SOJ luck--has turned the corner. We're going to be competitive every single year for the next 12 and win a few SBs. This feeling is incredible. I still cannot believe it.
As we all know Barkley was my favorite player and possibly my favorite NCAA player within the past 10 or so years. I'm loving the Sam Darnold selection but I'm just THANKFUL N.Y Giants took Barkley #2 overall. This way. In my heart. I know we did not PASS UP on S.Barkley. Now i can simply move forward as a fan and focus on Sam Darnold. Barkley is now a moot point for me but if we PASSED UP on the kid I'd always and forever question that decision. Thankful I do not feel this way moving forward.
Leonard Williams went apt-shit during the Darnold selection. He ran around his living room like a big kid. In other words he's excited for our new QB.
Honestly, wasn't sure what I said to deserve a ban but when I looked this morning I did notice a big dent in my bottle of Jameson's lol.
Now we all move on and root for Darnold and hopefully this guy is the real deal,,,,,,,,but will Bowels play him ? Not rush him but play him ?
