We did. I liked Darnold but the turnovers were an issue. I think they passed on Rosen solely because the idiot owner is a fake ambassador. You can't convince me otherwise and that is why I feared Rosen would be passed up if he was sitting there. Maccagnan didn't trade up to #3 for Darnold he had someone else in mind. He is not that smart that he foresaw Darnold would be there. He got lucky and he also has no balls to stand up to the owner and draft Rosen.

Could have had a choice of Rosen and Darnold @6. Now that would have been genius but then again we are Cleveland Browns East.

They are giddy because of the Browns. Had zero to do with them, they made a trade for someone other than Darnold. He just fell into their laps. Now the hard part comes them not ruining him with McCown and Bates teaching him dumb stuff.

No need to worry about Fitzpatrick. Alabama players suck in the pro's. What we need to worry about is Darnold wearing a different number. Can't have flashbacks to Richard Todd ever again. See what I did there? Todd Alabama reference again.

I wonder if the Jets got any offers for that pick @3 tonight.

Julio Jones deleted his Falcons references from his Twitter account right before Ridley got picked.

I get why his age is considered an asset, but when you combine his short list of starts with the fact he didn't play much QB in high school either, that is slightly concerning to me. These guys sometimes take a little longer to "get it". The talent is definitely there though so well worth the risk.

Absolutely agree with this. The Jets should be relentless with putting offensive pieces around the kid, only pausing for defense when there are opportunities that are too good to pass up.

Not sure how the board will look by the 3rd round, but as of this moment we can do better.

Anderson, Enunwa, Kearse, these 3guys are more than enough to help a talented young QB. What Mac needs to fix is the oline, many teams have identified the key to keeping a QB safe, how many olinemen were selected in the first round, 5 or 6?

Now that the jets have their potential FQB, future drafts should be about skilled positions on offense and the oline.

I've thrown out a lot of my old Jets jerseys, but for whatever reason I still have my Kellen Clemens jersey and it is still in good condition. You should see some of the reactions I get when I wear that out in public.

Turnovers are correctable, injuries (Rosen) and accuracy (Allen) aren't.

    Totally agree.

Also, while pointing out what the Jets gave up to get Darnold, it needs to also be pointed out that we received Kearse as part of that overall exchange. Definitely big for Darnold.

Turnovers are "man made" though to a large extent. Nobody disputes the talent foundation is there and he's a baby still. At barely age 20 you aren't allowed to have a few growing pains or tough stretches?

I would think it might be fair to expect a few tough or even terrible stretches in the NFL at the beginning too. How many HOF QBs have had a rough go their first year or two before getting a handle on things? Almost all of them really.

Let the board play out, the Steelers have been doing that for decades now. Ozzie newsome has been doing that for years as well.

The Colts new GM is doing the same thing, let it play out and he ended up with the best olineman in the draft.

I have to give Mac credit for allowing board to come to him the past couple of drafts, Williams fell to him, Adams fell to him, he just whiffed on the later picks.

I wish he would have done the same this year, but it is what it is, I just hope Darnold works out.

I wanted Rosen because I felt he would win the starting job from Mcown and Teddy this year, he had all the tools needed for such transition. Darnold is going to need more work than Rosen and it means jets are going to suck again this year.

Looking at long term picture if jets suck Bowles might get fired and QBs will be on second offensive system already.

Darnold will need some serious development and it’s going to take a couple of years in same system with a good QB coach.

Jets can’t afford to keep hitting the reset button and hope to develope this kid.

Yeah.... I can see Browns fans looking back at the 2018 draft a few years from now and going "oh my god! we passed on those guys??" at both the #1 AND the #4 picks. Potentially very rough night by the Browns but I guess time will tell.

I just looked him up. Hey, how many dudes on the planet can say they've thrown at least one NFL pass in 12 consecutive seasons!? lol

If my boss who just happened to be the owner of the team, gave me specific instructions on a player, I would follow his orders.

There is also no evidence of that being the case, we can speculate but does it really matter at this point?

I like Rosen, if Bruce Arians we’re still the HC he would make his transition into the NFL the smoothest of all the QBs taken and he would have immediate success like Goff.

Unfortunately they hired a rookie DC who is very similar to Bowles. Unless they have an excellent OC Rosen’s development will be a little slower.
