Bingo. Reminds me of Big Ben quite a bit. Maybe a slightly shorter, considerably more athletic/mobile version.
I never thought that the Jets would have a chance to draft Darnold. Hopefully the Jets do the smart thing and don't force him to start before he is ready. He's only 20 years old.
Last night was a great night. Avengers was unreal and amazing. But our team got the best guy on their board. I rarely saw him play because we ruined out draft status with wins. Mac made this happen...I hope goes down as a Jets legend. Even though I had Rosen ahead on my list a bit...I cannot overlook that this 20 year old has the tools of Andrew Luck. A magician on the field.
Hey this was beyond the best-case scenario once the Jets traded up. I'm just saying you can't really use the fact they got Darnold as proof that winning a couple of extra games didn't matter, they still had to trade up for him whereas they wouldn't have with another couple losses. Do I think it was worth the three 2's to go from Rosen to Darnold once the season was over, sure but I'm not a big fan of either of the Joshes anyway. Plus if the Giants didn't have a 67-year old GM and a mandate not to ruffle Eli's feathers ever again it would be a vastly different narrative today with both Baker and Darnold off the board. Trading up for 3 to get Barkley or Chubb would have been panned and settling for one of the other two QB's after the big tradeup would have been less than satisfactory. Even Baker would have been panned to a degree, Darnold was the only selection that the majority would have been behind and it wasn't even a likelihood till 48 hours ago. Put it this way, would you have taken Rosen (or Allen) minus three second-rounders, or Nelson plus three second rounders? That's not a no-brainer in favor of those QB's.
Wish we didn't have to trade the picks and played Hackenberg last year, would have loved to have those picks today, but I am beyond ecstatic. This is the guy I wanted all along and if they coach him right, we could finally have a weapon at QB. Lets go
Because he went to the same school as Sanchez it means it's a bad pick? Of all the dumbarse reasoning on here to hate the pick that's gotta be the dumbest
Yeah if things had been different and we were the ones picking Barkley would people really be comparing him to Blair Thomas? Eh...nevermind.
Look back at the history of USC QB’s and how they’ve done in the NFL... not quite the success rate that gives me hope . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The history from the specific school is irrelevant. Judge the kid on his own merits, not the jersey he wore.
I’ll take a wait and see approach but I wanted Rosen... I pray I’m wrong . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So yesterday afternoon I made some posts how I have this "sour feeling" that Darnold is going to be the pick over Rosen. After the pick was made, and I continued to read up on him through the night, I think I can eat my crow bright and early this morning. I'm in on Darnold. Turnovers need correcting, no doubt, but when the majority of the media/analysts have him as the QB1 of this draft, and the Jets have him, how can you be mad?? There is true upside for the kid and at 20 years old, I am ecstatic for what may come. As long as it wasn't Allen, I was happy. Rosen looked super annoyed getting the call from Arizona. Sam was all smiles. The tide may be turning fellas!
That's fair enough to be disappointed if you wanted another guy. But Darnolds our guy now so let's at least back him in and give him a chance before writing him off.
The biggest concern I have with Darnold is his throwing motion, which I believe contributes to his penchant for terrible INTs. I've heard many scouts and former GMs and coaches say that fixing footwork can be done in an off season, but fixing throwing motion can be nearly impossible. They cited Aaron Rodgers as being the only true success story in terms of legitimately fixing a borked throwing motion coming out of college. Also cited people like Kaepernick who managed to temporarily correct throwing motion only to revert the minute they started facing significant pass rush. From Darnold's perspective, the fact that he doesn't have the quantity of reps of other more experienced rookies may actually help him in this regard.
Certainly not writing him off , I’m 100% behind the kid... I pray he turns out to be the face of this franchise for years to come . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Very harsh, he was on about mr negativity and only him nobody else. Hell I am only on page 11 and he must have posted 50 times how much he hates Darnald, Tbf there is only so many times you can read the same shit by the same poster before you crack.
Just heard this on GMFB... Darnold is the youngest QB to be picked in the first since 1970. If we got this right we’re set for a long, long time...
