What’s next is now Mac has to do what Tanny didn’t after trading up for your franchise. Make him the priority. Every move this franchise makes from here on out has to be made with idea of how it improves Sam. Let’s get him a center he can grow with and stay I. The same page. Maybe a guard to replace carpenter next year. Getting the qb is just the beginning
This might be the most moronic thing I’ve read today. Darnold was never ever getting to 6. No chance. Someone absolutely would have traded up.
this turned out MUCH better than i was scared it would. i am happy with the darnold pick i would have rather had rosen but i understand why you pick himthere i think that if you would have told me we could have saved our 3 second round pick and STILL had the choice between allen and rosen i would say you are an idiot for trading up. that said i still think that darnold has the 2nd least probability of being a bust so he is fine with me, but i would have rather had rosen. i was SUPER happy that the dolphins didnt get him. and i am beyond happy that we didnt get stuck with mayfield, he is my most likely to bust out of the top 4 qbs.
You guys who want Rosen are just flat out wrong. This pick will go down in Jets history as the day that everything changed. Mark my words. Long time fan - this guy is special and Maccagnan and Bowles both know it and did their best to hide how giddy they are during the press conference.
I don’t know if Macs looking like a genius the browns are among the worst organizations in sports and they proved it again in spades tonight
I preferred Rosen and considering we'd still have 3 2nd rounders definitely hurts right now, but we did what we did and we have to live with it. The Jets had the stones to move up, which was applauded by many and making moves like this is always risky. So they "overpaid" to get the consensus #1 pick until like 2 weeks ago. Darnold is very capable of becoming someone great. Now its up to the team, the staff, and everyone else involved to help him reach his potential.
Today was a rare good day. The Browns were morons as usual. Then the Giants let their franchise QB slip through their fingertips to us. The Giants pick an RB at #2 for some bizarre reason (guaranteed some no name taken in the 5th round will outproduce Barkley. Dolphins don't get a QB (though they do get Minkah Fitzpatrick which is irritating Buffalo takes Allen! Lol New England does not get Rosen all in all...excellent
Yeah, Darnold would have been gone. The best prediction we can make is we could have stayed at 6 at still gotten Rosen. Would Rosen and the three seconds be better than Darnold? I think so. But Mac couldn’t have predicted that.
Then we get Darnold and still have the three 2’s. Either way, the way the draft played out the trade wasn’t necessary to get one of the top QB’s, but likely necessary to get Darnold.
Excellent point! Sanchez wasn't a HOF'er, but he was more than adequate had Tanny not screwed things up.
I was browsing Browns forums just to soak up some misery, and found a link to a thread with this guy Mind Character who called the Browns' two first round picks like a month ago. Interesting read. https://forums.footballsfuture.com/...other-serious-browns-draft-rumblings/?page=15
That's hard to say, the Browns, Colt's or Broncos could have easily traded back to a team who wanted Darnold.
The value of a top 3 pick is much higher than the 10th pick, Look at what it cost Buffalo to get Allen. Mac didn't pay much , especially if Darnold turns out to be a FQB. Arizona ,in my opinion got a steal as I believe Rosen is going to be one of the more successful QBs from this class.
