For a team that's picked defense for almost a decade, they need someone more mobile and durable. I really wanted Rosen, but ultimately this is likely a better choice. They've essentially saved a life.

We did have Anthony Smegma with that same thinking.

I had a rehearsal and missed the pick. Then, when I got home, I was afraid to come to this site or NFL.com fearing that Mayfield would go #1 and that Mac would have taken Allen. Well, at least only half of my fears came to pass.

While I'm very disappointed, I'm not surprised, and I am hopeful. Welcome to the Jets, Sam Darnold. We need you to fulfill your potential, so work your ass off and work smart, not just hard. Be content to sit behind Teddy this season. Pick both his and McCown's brain. Soak up everything they and Bates tell you. We're counting on you!

Congrats to all of you who believed Darnold is the best QB! Enjoy and revel in this moment. May you be proven to be right so that you can continue to enjoy this pick! God knows that as a Jets fan, you've suffered enough, so it's time for some fun, joy and celebration. If he develops and proves to be the best, I will be totally happy to eat crow and admit that I was wrong and you right. I readily admit that I don't have much confidence in him, but the kid is talented and huge, most of the "experts" think he is the best QB in this draft, so maybe I'm wrong. I just hope that he can develop some fire and strengthen his leadership skills.

Most of all, with apologies to the Josh Allen fans, I'm just ecstatic that the pick wasn't Allen.

Darnold had a down year relative to his first year as a starter and his team still went 11-3 and played in a significant bowl game. He played one bad game against a stacked OSU team (in which he still threw for 356 yards) and that was everyone's last impression.

Everyone is quick to forget about the winning season and the gem he put together in the 2016 bowl game against PSU.

This is an amazing pick and if you're not stoked about it I sincerely feel bad for you.

He's definitely not the first Jewish QB in the NFL. There have been at least a couple. I can't remember names, however.

Didn't you go on a long tirade on how air raid QBs never ever ever have success on the pro level?

Who was the winning QB in the super bowl again? Wasn't Socal Brady who had little to no experience with bad weather before being drafted by New England I can tell you that right now.

Mentioned it in another thread, me and my rabid Jets fan friend, Vinnie (Vinnie and I, whatever, fukk off, I'm tired) as usual fell over ourselves to call each other during/after the Jets first pick. It's always a race to see who's faster than Carl Lewis. "Darnold. Thoughts?" "Poor bastard."

Remember all the Jet fans who were pissed off after every win due to not being able to draft or suck enough for Darnold?

    I rest my case.

I am so happy. What a pick! Welcome to New York, Sam! Somehow the Jets have had Leonard Williams, Jamal Adams, and now Sam Darnold drop to them (Technically traded up to #3, but Darnold was consensus #1). Things are starting to look up for Gang Green!

He’s only 20 and he obviously can make all the throws and some plays with his feet. What’s not to like

While I'm also anti-tank to be fair they DID have to give up three 2's to secure Darnold whereas with just two more losses they don't need the trade to get Darnold.
