Browns are going to try and spook us by threatening to draft Mayfield

I find it amusing that so called experts are shaking their heads as to why the Browns might not have announced their pick yet.

One plausible explanation is that they want the jets to trade up. But I suspect the real one is that they want to make it harder for the Giants to trade.

They make their pick and its a QB, whichever they always wanted. No team is going to trade with the Giants till after the Browns pick. Simply because its too risky to trade before you know if your guy is there at 2. Not every team is as forward thinking as the Jets who seem to be ok with whatever QB becomes available.

This startegy makes the Giants have less time to work out a killer deal for the trade. If the Giants end up not picking a QB, then the Browns pick at number 4 has more trade value to a team that wants a QB.

Bottom line with this much interest in this QB class. Both the Browns and the Giants are looking for trades and they are talking to the same teams. There is a very good chance both will trade back. When you pull the trigger on the trade has everything to do with who the Browns pick at 1 and Jets at 3.

Should be an interesting evening for a Jets fan. Here is a mock worst possible case for the Jets that is not impossible:
Browns: Mayfield
Bills at 2 with trade: Rosen
Jets: Allen
Patriots at 4 or 5 with trade: Darnold
Phins stay put and Lamar falls to them

Everyone in the AFCE lands a better QB than the jets.

I would lose it if Mac passed on Darnold for Allen. Both QBs are raw, but only Darnold has shown he can actually play.

Please don't tell me we are supposed to feel better about a QB because of how hard he throws.

 

So now that Mayfield is projected 1 overall, are you willing to accept the reasoning of "do you think you're smarter than Dorsey?" as a defense of Mayfield?

 

Or you could watch someone actually attempt to break down his strengths and weaknesses rather than just how fast he throws

 

No doubt if that’s his flavour then so be it. We will see soon enough

 

Allen would be an absolute dream come true pick! Kid has it all and a system that favours big arm QBs

 

They just picked Mayfield instead.

One advice for the Jets brass: NEVER DRAFT A USC QUARTERBACK.
