It isn't about the Jets. It is about causing teams to feel uncertainty due to the sheer volume of information. When you are not solid in your place, mistakes are made. That is why teams spread rumors leading up to the draft. They WANT mistakes to be made, as it might benefit them. Everyone is doing this.
Drafting Allen could be a franchise-crippling move. We're going to waste a year or two to get him ready, then waste another two years trying to make him a pro, then probably have him compete with a shitty vet or 5th round pick the last year of his deal and then we start all over again. Obviously this could happen if any QB you choose is a bust, but we gave up 3 second round picks for this one. And we'd be taking him over guys that are leaps and bounds ahead of him in every area except height.
