Bill Belichick hasn't been a defensive head coach since like 2004 when Weis left. Hes an all around head coach, that knows all sides to the ball at a very high level.
So surely you didn't trust Mike Zimmer, 0 years of head coaching experience after being nothing but a defensive coach, when they drafted Teddy Bridgewater back in 2014...
But I liked Teddy B coming out of the draft, so to be honest my response would have bias. It was moreso me trusting my eyes, but the Vikings got a steal, shame he got hurt.
it shouldnt be about getting one of the top QBs. they should be trying to get the one that they have rated the highest they can trade 4 and still get a ton of picks
Well at least you can admit your opinion is biased... But you don't know who they have rated highest. For all we know, they could have the top 3 ranked all within points of each other. Would you rather have a guy you graded out at 94 or a guy you graded out at 90 plus a shit ton of extra picks?
If the Browns are seriously considering Mayfield, and to a lesser extent Allen, they should just take Barkley/Chubb at #1 and roll the dice.
For real...I know it seems illogical, but they would gamble and come out looking great for the most part
yep. they could also have one guy rated head and shoulders above the rest and those arent the only options in your scenario because they can have the guy thats 94 and still get a shit ton of extra picks ... there is very little upside to them getting cute with the first pick
Getting the guy you want plus an extra first rounder next year and probably 3s, 4s, or 5s this year seems like the definition of upside but I dunno.
like i said, theyre going to get a ton of picks for the fourth anyway so they might as well get their guy at one
You have no idea what's happening at 2 or 3. Those are things you can't control so you can't make a decision based on that logic. The only way it makes sense is if they have the top 3 QBs ranked all very close to each other and then it makes a ton of sense. This is all a big hypothetical anyway, they aren't trading the first pick.
??? thats what ive been saying the whole time. they dont know what would happen at 2 or 3 so they might as well pick their qb at one ... then trade four for a ransom
And what I've been saying is that if they have the top 3 QBs rated evenly, get an even BIGGER ransom for the first pick and still get a QB you feel can be a franchise QB at 4. But again, not happening.
When gambling odds start to change I take it more seriously. Baker was around +300 to be taken #1 overall just a few days ago. I've seen it shift to -400 today. That is a serious swing.
Have had the NFL Network on all day and it's non-stop 100% Mayfield first to the Browns. Kind of bums me out.
Browns are not just threatening to take Mayfield. He is now -500 favorite to go #1 overall on betting sites.
If Brown take Mayfield I want Allen. They are all a gamble, but wouldn't it be sweet if Allen panned out after the Browns tried to fuck us and force a trade.
Browns don't want to fuck us. I think people are finally realizing that absolutely insane production Mayfield put together in the last 3 years, which is supported by any meaningful statistical breakdown possible is actually worth more than having an average season in sub-pair conference, but having good athleticism. That's why we hear Mayfield now as top QB selected and #2 QB a few days back. If he is gone, Rosen is still a top prospect and I would be happy with that. But please no Allen - we can't take this kind of gamble with the only top 3 pick we got in decades.
