How ironic would it be for the Browns to take Mayfield and force all those Ohio State fans to root for him?
There’s no chance we trade up either way. We traded up to 3 for a reason and not 1. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's a great point. I was also thinking about some of the story lines that would emerge. Jets have Texans on the schedule this year. Mayfield has made it clear he hates all things Texas football after TCU disappointed him, and while he will tone back his attitude in the NFL, he refuses to do that with Texas. Also, Mayfield and Oklahoma got beat pretty bad by Clemson in 2016. With Watson leading the Texans, can anyone say "grudge match"?
I have homie. I think you should watch it too because if you had, you would see the many flaws he has to his game. Just because Mayfield's team won, doesn't mean it was because Mayfield just dominated OSU. Mayfield had 3-4 batted balls that game. He was very inaccurate on the intermediate and downfield throws. He took unnecessary sacks. He relied heavily on his first read and his receivers were wide open on most his completions, especially the TE. The only reason they won was because our QB was trash, the defense played bad along the perimeter, and OSU had 3-4 PI calls on deep balls that weren't even catchable. Oh, OSU giving the ball away and allowing their Defense to score points definitely didn't help either. Trust me, I watched it and was very unimpressed then too. Not even because of biased opinion due to beING a OSU fan. Mayfield just isn't impressive. I think he will be a bust. If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow but I just don't think I am.
Well, get ready it will probably be Mayfield. The big 4 is now the big 3 because Allen tweeted some racist stuff a few years ago that just surfaced. Now teams might not touch him. So Mayfield goes #1 or #3. The one holding all the cards are the Giants because their pick just got more valuable.
Schefter reporting that there is a "mounting belief from HCs and GMs around the league that Cleveland will take Baker Mayfield" with the 1st pick. Not good.
As long as Allen drops past 3 I'm good! Honestly, as a fan of about 35 years I am genuinely excited that we will have a chance to grab what should be an above average to great QB tonight. I prefer Rosen above the other two but I am going to root for whatever guy we get. Not often I get to say this but today it feels good to be a Jets fan!
I know I shouldn’t care because it means we will most likely end up with one of Rosen or Darnold, but Mayfield going 1 overall would be a huge kick in the dick for us.
Damn I can’t believe Cleveland might actually do this but he’s my 1st choice too so not surprised if you look at it that way Baker 1 and Darnold 2 is a disaster scenario for me as I have both of them much higher than any of the other QBs Honestly at that point would rather trade back down and take Lamar Jackson Rosen will be the pick most likely though
You’re right, not good it’s Mayfield 1 and worst case scenario is one of the Cali boys. Winner winner
I like your optimism and I hope it's contagious. We are way overdue for some genuine luck. People have different views on how that luck arrives. Me I just want a small miracle and that would be Bowles resigning today. That would get the franchise moving in a positive direction for sure.
Daniel Jeremiah is the first major draft “expert” I’ve seen to bite, and he’s a guy I actually respect. Swapped Darnold for Mayfield at the top this morning.
I wouldn't have minded Mayfield. But getting Darnold or Rosen seemed like a pipe dream a few months ago. And we would be guaranteed one of them.
Just a thought but isn't there a big to do with the first pick. Pictures with Goodell and all the hoopla. Mayfield won't be in attendance. I think that if he does show up it will be a sign. Or I might be over thinking this whole thing. Can't wait for it to be over.
