The same breed of fanboy who also like the idea of putting BLACK on uniforms as an all-purpose answer when in reality when you think "New York Jets uniforms," BLACK should be the last thing that comes to mind. "Black" is the Oakland Raiders, black is the San Antonio Spurs, black is the Pittsburgh Pirates. The New York Jets? . "Black?" . Cut the "me too!" bullshit already. .
I was half serious about the Tampa uniforms. My heart bled for poor Doug Williams having to prance around like a fruit in that outfit (he's one of my very favorite non-Jets players, and I don't have many). Yeesh, look at those things!; but I actually like them on some sick level. Just the right tough of gay. Players looked like a walking advertisement for Tropicana, but it would be fun if they bucked (no pun intended) tradition and went back to them. Point is, I like them better than the current ones. If you're talking THROWBACK throwbacks (as to teams that have been around forever), Spittsburgh is a hoot (hah, I partly call them that because Cowher would spray everyone with saliva). I couldn't tell if they looked like bumblebees or convicts. I said, "Oh, look! Roethlisrapist is finally doing time!" Spittsburgh at least kept their colors, so yeah, agree with joe, which is why I posted this. I do believe that group pic is from around '70 or 71', when the Jets did go a darker green, but black just isn't for the Jets. It has nothing to do with them or their history, and Tampa's get ups are all sparkly. WHY? EDIT & P.S.: And yes, I've been running the anti-green pants brigade for YEARS, even though the color is related to the Jets. I should use that as a political platform to run for President in 2020. I'd win in a landslide.
I definitely prefer our helmets with the football shaped Jets over the oval that was introduced in 1998.
It's no coincidence they finally became good when they replaced "Bucco Bruce" with a skull..... ARRRRRRR....GET THAT NANCY OFF ME SHIP
The full-time uniforms will not be changing, at least there will be no drastic change. However, you can expect to see an alternate uniform coming, perhaps even revealed at Taste Of The Jets.
Agree. Don't think the team would let Adams keep tweeting about an upcoming uni change if they didn't want it put out there. If it were a total redo it would need to be out now to set up merchandising for the season.
If it's just a throwback uniform, then the helmet would not be green. The NFL has some dumb rule about players using the same helmet all season long due to concussions.
That's true, they do currently have the one helmet rule, however they are talking about tweaking that rule - aka - allowing a second helmet so that more throwbacks can be worn again. I'm not sure what is so difficult about fitting a player properly for 2 helmets as opposed to 1, so the one helmet rule has never made sense to me, so hopefully this gains some momentum in the coming weeks and in May or even next offseason, it can be voted on, passed and teams can start wearing proper throwbacks again.
Yeah, it's definitely not a total re-do. It's an alternate, but that's all that I know. No specifics. I'm as interested as anyone else to see what it looks like.
hate these, personally. the one in adams tweet seems more like it. Similar but a streamlined classic look like what the Vikings and 49ers did
I agree, it doesn't take much to fit a second helmet and chinstrap. Also, how does wearing a 2nd helmet, with less collisions INCREASE concussions??? stupid rule
Watched the Penn State blue-white and they showed clips from practice offensive linemen wear helmets protecting against concussions
