The history is against everyone. Only one QB a year gets to lead his team to the Superbowl, and despite popular belief, there is more to the game of football than just the QB position. These types of stories only look at one round and at one position to create a negative look at the potential, ignoring the data for other rounds and the variables of the other 52 guys on the team, the coaching staff, and the front office. Its a lazy job by someone with nothing original to write at this time of year and a dealine ot fill.
Packers got it right once. They traded for Favre, didn't draft him. And the trade was made by Ron Wolf, who knew all about Favre because he worked under Dick Steinberg when he was the Jets GM, who loved Favre.
Right, they didn't draft Favre, but they traded for him before he had any success in the NFL. I think it was only a year after being drafted. That still counts as a hit man.
lol I get the pessimism ..its called being a Jets Fan (cursed from 1969) I was a step or two away a few months ago from leaving this failed enterprise ..but when Mac acted so PROACTIVELY to move up, It said to me he has a better learning curve than Bowles and getting a Second and Fourth Rnd Qb like Hack and Petty DOESNT WORK
Best Post so far in this thread! Most Gen Xers and Millenials just dont get the hard work and luck it takes to produce a winner..Ive have been patient 50 years..maybe Thursday is the Payoff
Although as a general rule of thumb I agree with the thread that the key is to get a FQB, however there's also a few of really good QB's that never won anything. So let's not make it sound like a FQB is the only concern? But the overall premise is correct. And YES you must continually go down that road. But the Jets overall futility is much more about bad front office hires? Everyone is harping on their inability to select a FQB, but what about every other pick they made? For 10 years this team not only could not get a FQB, they couldn't even so much as select a decent player? Regardless of position they ALL sucked.
1. This FO hasnt been aroound 10 years, whats the point of talking about 10 years. 2. Every other pick outside of QB has also been bad, not one decent player has been drafted? Stop already
WTH are you? The gang green speech police? Stop bible thumping already, Abigail. Did I post that this front office has been around 10 years. However, now that you mention it, Mac's drafting has been a net gain of Tannys 2010, 2011, and 2012 drafts. Just about exclusively garbage. Besides a few players, all of Mac's draft choices have sucked. His QB's above all else have been total shit.
You should stay away from the internet. You post, someone replies and you whine. Like you did for years on JI.
Everybody knows that at least 2 of the big 4 will be busts....heck, i can even see all 4 being busts!! But you need to take the chance on one of them, or else you’re just in QB hell Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Andrew Luck, Matt Ryan, Phillip Rivers, Cam Newton, Matt Stafford... wouldn't we have been okay with any of these guys over the years? Or even the younger guys like Mariota, Winston, and Goff? Even some "busts" like Bradford and Alex Smith found a place in the league given the right situation.
