Maybe we need an EGO to bring us back to the glory days of Namath

You know what the actual throws produced 40 something TD's and wins and that's all that counts.

    PFF called him that.

As for rumors that he won't be the #1 pick, Cleveland is rumored to take either Allen or Darnold, not necessarily because they're the two best prospects, but because Rosen allegedly told them he wouldn't want to go to Cleveland (he actually did not say that), and Mayfield is thought - by some - to be Manziel 2.0, like some label Allen Hack 2.0.

As for what teams will ACTUALLY do, I wouldn't believe any of these "experts" knows.

I find that PFF metrics are a joke in most cases. So for me, I don't take that as a credible source. You may not feel the same and that's perfectly valid too.

I just know, I've read a lot of the experts stuff, those with supposed links and connections with top scouts and execs. What I see are a lot of guys insisting that a lot of teams don't even have a first round grade on BM.

I think he is being used as bait in most cases and I honestly think he will be the guy to fall the hardest at the QB position in this draft.

Fortunately we are only a few days away till we find out.

I get where Mayfield is slotted all over the place because he doesn't fit the "mold" - too small; spread system QB - and then there's the stuff about him being like Manziel (which I completely discount), but from what I've watched of him, and taking into account his measurables and metrics, I think he's got a good chance to succeed - better than Allen and Darnold IMO, but I'm no expert, just a fan of 55+ years.

You don't look at the actual throws either or you wouldn't be making this post or hating on our future QB. Mayfield has incredible accuracy, hits very long passes with guys in stride. His completion percentage is legit. He doesn't have cirque du solel receivers making incredible catches bailing it out. He puts the ball where it should be no matter the distance.

I am starting to think that Cleveland REALLY wants the QB pick to be made for them. They are NOT going to take Baker #1. They are threatening that so the Jets panic and swap picks with the Browns. It won't work.

My guess is they are happy with Darnold or Allen

To be fair, there has been a connection between Mayfield and Dorsey since prior to the draft process really going full tilt.

That said, I do think Dorsey will do what he thinks is in best interest of Browns, regardless of his existing relationships. Darnold is "safe" as far as these prospects go, and with Tyrod Taylor there, he doesn't need to start day 1, which is ideal for Darnold.

If I had to bet, I bet Browns take Darnold.

There could be truth to the Mayfield to the Browns rumors. On the Gang Green Nation podcast today they had a scout on who said Scot McCloughan was pushing Dorsey hard to take Mayfield with number one. I hope it is not true. I read today that the Cardinals love Mayfield and are interested in trading up to five for him.The more information that we see it appears that Mayfield and Darnold have put some separation between themselves and Rosen and Allen.

I have 2 full games and a highlight reel of mayfield broken out play by play on this very forum so that alone proves you wrong.

I think that'a true. We absolutely have to snag Mayfield and get in his agents ear and muscle him here

You can't disprove his accuracy without major major cherrypicking

If the Browns take Mayfield and leave Rosen to us (assuming the Giants don't take him), I'd be okay with that.

As long as we don't end up with Allen.

We're not ending up with Hackenallen. Rest easy. If Mayfield goes 1 then Rosen or Darnold is our QB

Mac drafting Allen would be asking to get fired

I didn't cherry pick because other posters picked the full games i broke down not me, and also i didn't make the highlight reel video either so that person picked the throws to show off. I didn't pick any of the throws I broke down so people couldn't make this argument :)

They want to call out bluff. It's smart on the Browns part really. We'll see how badly we want him now. If they do they will trade up to 1. The Browns can then drop down to 3 and still get Allen who it's possible they wanted all along

We won't trade to one and they don't know what the Giants will do with 2 so they will pick their qb right where they are sitting now.

Just caught up with this thread - Seriously? Mayfield at no. 1 ?? Never going to happen. I love Mayfield in a big way but no way is he the top draft pick. So many super college boys to chose from to improve your franchise above him.

As others have said - 'smokescreen' - though I question why any team with a pick in the top 3 is wasting time with smokescreens. They can lick generally pick who they want.
