You're pretending. That giving up what amounts to an entire draft is a good gamble if you can try to fool some free agents to sign with you the following year.

Good players don't want to go to desperate teams, they want to go to promising teams or contenders.

Neither of our teams are even close to either of those.

Cap space doesn't mean shit unless you are willing to grossly overpay players. The Jets and Bills have had it in spades. See Johnson, Trumaine.

    1. It’s not giving up an entire draft. We’d still have plenty of picks.

    2. Teams that are promising have good young QBs, which the bills would theoretically have. Bills have never had a problem getting free agents no matter how bad they were. Cleveland and Oakland are the only 2 places I can ever think where it was known free agents wouldn’t sign there. Then Oakland got a good young QB and that changed anyway. Bills made the playoffs last year.

If you think the Bills are not giving up a heist to go from 12 to 1 on draft day, you aren't pretending, you are hopelessly delusional. You will, without a doubt, be giving up more draft capital than any team ever should.

I actually hope that, for your sake, they don't do something that stupid. You seem like a goofball but not a bad guy.

I think you just don't get the reality of the situation.

Let’s say we give up our 2 firsts, a 2nd, a 3rd, and next years 1. That’s a lot right? Yup. What do we have left? A 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th round picks, which is an entire draft this year and more than most other teams still (including the Jets?).

    Yeah. That's a lot.

Unless you tear the scales from your eyes and realize what you gave up to get those picks.

Come on, dude. Wake up. Both of our teams have had surprise playoff appearances over the years. They get your hopes up.

    They aren't reality.

It is a lot, but what's the alternative, don't get a franchise QB (or try to get one) and be the same mediocre non-playoff team they've already been the last 20 years? At some point you have to put an emphasis on the position and go for it. The Jets were right to give up their 2nds. In the end, no one cares what the Eagles gave up for Wentz do they?

Also, those extra picks we have are gravy. We have an extra 1st rounder because we traded down last year (and for it, ended up with one of the DROTY candidates). We have an extra 2nd because we traded away Watkins, who wasn't going to sign with us and even if he did we weren't going to pay him that money. Would have lost him for nothing. We have an extra 3rd for trading Tyrod, who I still cannot believe yielded the first pick of the 3rd round. What did we give up for those picks? Essentially nothing. Go get a franchise QB (or try). And if the guy you pick ends up sucking, try again.

    https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=buf

Teams have been paying approximately a 30%-35% markup (variable) to move up. Assuming the Bills are able to get a "reasonable" trade (it will likely be more, due to the spot in question), here's what they'd have to pay:

    Pick 1: 3000 + 900 (30% markup)

    for

    R1 Pick 12: 1200
    R1 Pick 22: 780
    R2 Pick 53: 370
    R2 Pick 56: 340
    R3 Pick 65: 265
    R3 Pick 96: 116
    R5 Pick 166: 24.6

We're at 804.4 value remaining. Assuming a 1st round pick next year is worth a 2nd round pick next year, we can take this further:

2019 1st round pick (valued at pick 53 this year): 370
2019 2nd round pick (valued at pick 85 this year): 165
2019 3rd round pick (valued at pick 121 this year): 52

    Now at 217.4 value remaining.

2020 1st round pick (valued at pick 85 this year): 165
2020 2nd round pick (value at pick 121 this year): 52

Congratulations. After all this the Bills have won the trade by 0.4 points. That is of course only if the Browns will only accept 30% mark up here.

The Bills have the 12th pick in the draft. That is prime territory.

You really think giving up all those picks is smart? Who are the best 3 QBs in the NFL?

    Tom Brady
    Aaron Rodgers
    Ben Roethliberger

    Where were those guys picked?

Now look at all of the also-rans. The most talked about ones are top ten picks. Failures like Stafford, Ryan, Rivers, then there are the outliers.

    Wilson, Prescott.

Then there are the new guys. I won't even get into them because they are now a product of NFL culture. The calls.

You should be jerking yourself off that the insane prospect all of those picks gives you. Instead you want to give half of it away when your team is empty.

I hate giving pep talks to fucking rival fans. Wake up.

Rumour is that Blo offered Gettleman 3 firsts (12, 22, and next year's first) for the 2 spot and got turned down. This would explain why some speculate that they are looking to move up from 12 but to a lower slot - maybe 5 with Denver.
I'm pretty sure they like Darnold a lot because this was the local scuttlebutt coming from OBD during the season while guys were being scouted and before all the pre-draft head fakes started.
I think they like Sam, Josh Rosen and Allen with Jackson possibly being a target if Beane is conducting the biggest smokescreen of all time - they didn't even have him in for a visit but Beane did leapfrog Zona who are said to like Lamar.
The Bills are not targeting Baker IMO. They want a big pocket passer.

The Giants were never going to trade out of the top 5. They would miss on the elite talent. Jets fans can rest easy about that.

Giants will stand pat and take either Darnold or Barkley at 2.

The Bills best hope lays with trading with Denver for 5 or Cleveland for 4 (I don't think Cleveland moves that pick but not impossible). They have no chance of breaking into the top 3. They are absolutely desperate to land a QB this draft though their GM recently said something about the draft being a success for their franchise even if they don't nab a QB, which is lowering expectations for his zubaz wearing coke snorting lake effect psycho fans. Their #1 target is actually Mayfield and they'd throw a shit fit if we got him

They were extremely high on Allen for a while but I think that's fizzled a bit

If the Giants turned down that deal I have to think they are taking a QB at 2. No way in 2018 do you basically trade 3 first round picks for a RB. That would be Cleveland browns level stupid.
