Video by Sport PROFOOTBALLTALK Mayfield's actions not helping Manziel comparison Baker Mayfield didn't help the Johnny Manziel comparisons when he admitted he didn't read the Los Angeles Chargers' playbook. http://www.nbcsports.com/video/2018...t-helping-johnny-manziel-comparison?ls=pftvod
he has repeatedly shown his immaturity in over the top antics over the past 4 years, why would anyone expect him to change overnight
Has he not heard of that draft phenomenon called the "trade up" or future free agency? I thought the guy scored ridiculously high on some new style IQ test. This is not only dumb to say but even dumber to admit leading up to draft.
Which was a dick move that he got shit on for quite some time during his career. He was also a manning coming from a prestige football family whose daddy (who is in the HOF) steered him away from the chargers. Mayfield has done much worse and doens't have the pedigree to get away with it
Eli was the consensus #1 overall pick; Eli wasn't f*cking with his money. Mayfield may or may not go in the top 10 so he is playing games with his money. I have less a problem with him prioritizing the play books he is studying based on where these teams pick in the draft and more of a problem with him volunteering that information. He will not last in NY being that careless with the media.
he's so cocky he drew a line saying he won't be drafted lower then 5. he's going to cry come draft day when he falls and likely throw a fit. he has locker room cancer written all over him. Sure it's fine when you are winning, but once the losses pile up, he's going to implode on himself
Perhaps Mayfield already knows where he is getting drafted? Eli was a huge prick to the Chargers and did it through the media as well.
What's wrong with telling a team you don't want to play for them? It seems like something that team would want to know as part of their due diligence. I applaud his transparency in the process.
That was sort of my point. He didn’t study the playbook... Translation: “I don’t want to be on your squad”.
What I find fascinating about all this is that I believe the teams that want him the most, all pick outside of the top 10 (i.e., Dolphins, Chargers prior to this report and the Saints). I've been predicting for while that the Saints would trade up to get him if he fell outside of the top 10. I hope for his sake that he hasn't been a dick and/or showed up unprepared when meeting all those teams that fell below that pen line. Hopefully, he only did that to the Chargers; if not, he keeps his mouth shut about how hard he studied a team's playbook between now and the draft day...SMH
because those teams know allen, rosen, darnold won't be there leaving their only options as mayfield and jackson. I think if mayfield went to NO he could have a decent career. playing in a dome with sean peyton and learning from brees is the best situation for him to succeed. Even in NE he could do ok, hell in NE matt casell took them to an 11-5 record and he was garbage.
I have no way of knowing this for sure, but maybe he seems so confident in being a top 5 Pick because he has been given the ole “wink wink, nod nod” by the Jets or another team. Either way, Eli literally telling the chargers to kiss off is just as bad if not worse.
If he got a wink form the jets he wouldn't have underlined the 5 pick also in the past players have been told that by teams who didn't wind up drafting them
