BPA doesn't mean generic best player, it means best player available that fits your system and what you're looking for from a player. Darnold might eventually be the better QB than Mayfield, but he isn't at this point, and the Jets can't afford to wait or risk his not developing.

In his 3 best seasons he played 14, 15, and 16 games. He had 19, 20, and 21 TDs respectively. He is a 1 TD per game QB. He is trash. Bradford has never even come close to being a 2 TD per game QB.

TDs is one thing doens't account for say leading his team down the field for it to be a rushing tD

for instance the 15 game season. sure it was only 20TDs. but he also only threw 5 INTs (4 to 1 is impressive) he also completed 71.6% of his passes and had a pace for 4135 yards had he played the 16th game. that's a pretty impressive season.

I know that the offense could be markedly different. Still, it shows how many teams are incorporating more and more shotgun snaps and elements of spread offenses. They're gonna have to since so many college teams are playing spread systems now and there will be fewer and fewer college QBs playing in NFL-type offenses and taking snaps from under center.
