I have my issues with TB, but I really think the whole idea that he doesn't let young players play is a false narrative. That was very true with Rex, and the fans seem to just be carrying it over. I don't see any evidence that it's true.

    2017 Rookies (16 Possible games)
    Jamal Adams started all 16.
    Marcus Maye started all 16.
Ardarius Stewart started 2 and appeared in 15.
Chad Hansen started 1 and appeared in 15.
Jordan Leggett was on IR all season.
Dylan Donahue appeared in 4 games before going on IR in early October.
Elijah McGuire started 2 and appeared in all 16.
Jeremy Clark appeared in 1, then went on IR on September 1st.
    Derrick Jones appeared in 3.

    2016 Rookies (32 Possible games)
Darron Lee started 24 and appeared in 28.
Christian Hackenburg is either developing into an all time great, or is a waste of space.
Jordan Jenkins has started 26 and appeared in 30.
Justin Burris has started 2 and appeared in 30.
Brandon Shell has started 15 and appeared in 20.
Lachlan Edwards has started all 32.
Charone Peake has started 1 and appeared in in 18 before going on IR in September of last year.

    2015 Rookies (48 Possible games)
Leonard Williams has started 47 and appeared in all 48.
Devin Smith somehow managed to start 3 and appear in 13, in between trips to the IR and PUP.
Lorenzo Mauldin has started 4 and appeared in 26 before going on IR in September of last year.
Bryce Petty has started 7 and appeared in 10 despite not being good enough to play in the NFL.
Jarvis Harrison hasn't played any, but he's been cut three times.
Deon Simon has started 1 and appeared in 16, despite spending most of his career on the practice squad.

I don't see who here is deserving of playing time and not getting it....

Only way Mayfield plays is if he completely balls out in training camp and preseason to the point where you are hurting the team by letting McCown play. He will be the starter by Halloween regardless. I'm not worried about it.

The Jets begin the season in Motown and end it in Foxborough.

In between, their slate features some interesting matchups.

The Jets have at least two games in primetime this year after having only one last season. They open the season in Detroit for a Monday night game. They face the Browns in Cleveland in Week 3 on Thursday night.

Those games are part of an opening stretch that features three road games in the first four weeks for the Jets. Their home opener comes in Week 2 against the division-rival Dolphins.

The Jets don’t see the Patriots until Nov. 25, when New England comes to MetLife Stadium. The two teams play again in the season finale in Foxborough.

    Other games of interest:

    — They travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars, who went to the AFC Championship last year, on Sept. 30.

    — Kirk Cousins, the object of the Jets’ desires this offseason, leads the Vikings into MetLife Stadium on Oct. 21.

    — Muhammad Wilkerson returns to face his former team on Dec. 23 with the Packers.

    Week 1: at Lions, Monday, Sept. 10, 7:10 p.m.
    Week 2: vs. Dolphins, Sunday, Sept. 16, 1 p.m.
    Week 3: at Browns, Thursday, Sept. 20, 8:20 p.m.
    Week 4: at Jaguars, Sunday, Sept. 30, 1 p.m.

I like the schedule. There is a real opportunity there for a good start.

I like the schedule, especially if they can start the season (3-1), but if they are fighting for a playoff spot it won't be easy with the final 3 games being Texans, Packers, and Patriots. A lot will happen between now and Week 15 though.

If true.....that post-bye week schedule is BRUTAL for our playoff hopes (assuming we're fighting for a spot)

The front end of the schedule will determine their fate. The Vikings are the toughest opponent followed by the Jags. The Jets have a legit chance to be in or win all other games pre-bye. Post-Bye easiest games look like Titans and Bills. Too early to say for sure with injuries, surprises etc.

    I love this schedule.

The one MNF game is the week where it will start at 7:15 as opposed to 8:30 or 8:15. One TNF but it's on the road. Zero home games on weekdays. Zero home games at night, unless the December 15 (Saturday) Houston game is at 8:20 as opposed to 4:30, and the road trip to Chicago is in October as opposed to December.

Couldn't ask for a better schedule.

Time wise, sure. Lumping of the post-Bye teams? Not favorable in the slightest. That's on paper at least.

Our schedule is fucking bullshit. To end the season we play a playoff team 5 out of 7 weeks. The two non-playoff teams are the Packers and the Texans.
