I was just reading an article from newsday:

    http://www.newsday.com/sports/footb...4682nov29,0,2988395.column?coll=ny-jets-print

    Great read BTW.

I think Mangini is a great coach, and THE FEELING I GET EVERY WEEK is that the Jets have a chance to win, EVERY week. There hasnt been one week this year where I thought the Jets had no shot, or just werent going to win, I cant remember the last time I felt like this during the season. I hope we have Mangini for a long time.

does anybody else feel the same way i do?

It's night and day between him and Herm... There were some games you knew we had no shot at winning when Herm was coaching, mostly because you knew the defenses were going to exploit the West Coast offense and they would just refuse to adapt...

I thought we'd lose a few this year that we have, but I suppose we were a lot more competitive in them than I thought. Mangini has been great so far I just hope it continues and we can keep him here.

    Seriously though:

I agree with the original poster, even against the "powerhouses" .. I might not have gotten my hopes up per say, but every week I felt like we had a decent shot of winning.

And. I will add this. Unlike the previous Coaching staff, which littered each season with losses where we were the better team on the field, the only Game where we actively lost the game where we were the better team on the field was against the Bears.

We got screwed against Indy, and we got screwed in Cleveland.

We had no excuse to lose against Chicago.

I do feel we can win every week as well. However, if we were playing Baltimore this year...that's another story

I feel the same way.....especially on "keeping him here" part....I think we really hit a homerun with Mangini (still early 2 tell) but i really like what i see in the team. Hated Herm and his 1-4 starts to the season, his lil sound bites.....and also the scared playcalling of Herm. Mangini really reminds me of a Parcells....i think it took sometime but the team is starting to buy into him. :finssuck:

With Mangini coaching and Chad at QB I feel like we're a very smart team, which goes a long way towards covering for a lot of flaws.

I have, kind of, but the feeling has varied from a hopeful 5 seconds (during the Kotite years) to a full week.

I feel the same way about my team. Even in a game where we don’t score any points I scream till there’s no voice left in me. As for Magini he truly is a Mr. Belichick deciepal in that he can use smoke and mirrors to compensate for our deficiencies. And he's got balls and is not afraid to take chances even one's that will have us all scratching our heads and arguing about it. Great find.

I'm very happy with Mangini but, I certainly never at any time felt we were going to beat the Jaguars or Bears after the games started.

I thought the Bears game was achievable. It felt like that even into the 4th quarter. The Jaguars game... that was something else. Don't even care to remember that one.

Hopw many times did we lose 41-0 under Herm? You guys are insane. I like mangini and I am glad we have him but you guys act like Herm was a terrible coach when he did a good job here. We didn't lose 41-0 last year when half the team was out w/ injuries. We had a chance to win just about every week w/ Herm and it was very rare we'd when we lost of it wasn't close. It is possible to appreciate what Herm did and still like Mangini- bashing Herm doesn't make mangini a better coach.

Herm's style doesn't allow blowout losses. Doesn't mean it was a good style. The game simply moves at too slow a pace and too much time is absorbed by the running offense and bend-but-don't-break defense.

Well, there was one game we had no chance to win - Jacksonville. Other than that, we have been very respectable.
