Bruce and cespedes are hitting .200 with 4 combined Homers and we are 12-4. I guess we have that going for us?

Yeah, I didn't understand the Reyes thing. He has yet to get a single hit this season and they bat him in a crucial situation. Too many stranded runners last night. They had tons of opportunities but just couldn't get any of them home. Callaway is starting to annoy me with some of these decisions.

Definitely, which was the essence of my comment a few days ago about having wins in the bank. There was definitely some good luck early that helped, and that's okay - it's just frustrating to see poor decisions, poor fundamentals, or seemingly complete breakdowns be the cause of losses. Yesterday's game would be easy to dismiss if it wasn't for Monday's, which is why today is so important.

As far as Callaway's decision-making goes, it's easy to imagine that he is feeling overwhelmed with all of the things he now has to follow, so I actually blame him less for some of these decisions that display a lack of common sense than I do his bench coach, Gary DiSarcina. That's DISarcina's job - to tell Callaway when he's missed something obvious - and I'm not seeing any evidence of that so far.

Well, this series has certainly overshadowed the start of the season. What a fucking disaster.

That's pretty fucking lame Matz giving up a three run homer there to Zimmerman

At this point I'm looking forward to Vargas getting back now smh

Can't say I agree with pulling Matz in the 4th. Aside from the home run he wasn't bad at all. 6 Ks in 4 innings, only 3 hits. The Mets are going to live and die by the bullpen this year and that makes me nervous. I can see this game ending like 9-2.

Welp the Mets are now making me look like a fool for this comment! Great rally in the 8th! This is the exact opposite of 2 games ago!

    Good win. Needed that badly.

Sewald looks good and had another terrific outing.

If the Mets were going to feel good coming out of this series winning only 1 out if 3, this is the only way that it was likely to happen. From that perspective I’m pleased.

Hey the Mets are 4-2 against the Nats. That's pretty good all things considered.

Only faced Strasburg once and haven't seen Scherzer yet. Nonetheless, feels good to beat them.

Big time 10 game road trip coming up. Would love 6-4

Now we settle into the regular season. 6-4 would be good. Now if only Wheeler and/or Matz could settle into some kind of competitive consistency.. That HR to Zimmerman annoyed the shit out of me but Matz did settle in after that. I did think it was curious that he got pinch hit for but also understood that here was an opportunity to score and Cal went for that. He also has confidence in Sewald obviously and it paid off.
The sooner Vargas and Schwarzak get healthy the better. There's a lot of veteran depth then. But having them in reserve isn't a bad thing as long as hey come back sound.

And Harvey continues to suck it up ...

Really hoping Vargas can finally start and Matz and Wheeler can show some consistency so the Harvey experiment can come to its inevitable end.

What a joke. In his last three starts Harvey has pitched 13 innings, given up 24 hits and 3 walks for a dazzling 2.077 WHIP, and has a sparkling 9.69 ERA. I really hope that Callaway isn't stupid enough to burn the bullpen at this point - Harvey should stay out there at least another three innings no matter how many more runs he gives up.
