I am curious to know Mac's draft board.....there will never be anyway of knowing how he has these guys ranked, but I would guess maybe Darnold, Mayfield, Rosen, Allen, Jackson. This is just based off of the meetings and pro days, but it could be different. The combine personnel stayed at the JW Marriot in Indy this year, Eric Allen accidentally said it...I was tempted to go just to get some inside info lol.
So your saying there's a small part of you that is bothered that Buffalo could jump us? ....kidding. I understand the whole control what you can control thing, but I just hate that we're always going to be running a comparison with a divisional rival, since we're drafting QB in the same draft.
due dilligence you never know who is going to fall. what if the browns take allen 1st overall, the giants take barkley, jets take rosen, all of a sudden cleveland could benefit from trading back with the bills is they don't love chubb. You need to be prepared for anything come draft day. You don't want to be caught off guard
Nope. I fully expect the Bills to jump into the top 5 to grab a QB. There's a reason why Macc moved to 3 because I truly believe he has similar grades on both Mayfield and Rosen and will be very happy to have one or the other.
Possible, but I just feel like with all the hype in this QB class, there's going to be 4 going in the top 10. Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, Allen, all go within the first 10 picks IMO. I can't wait for draft night to see how things shake out. It's going to be one of the most monumental picks in jet history
Agreed! This decision (good or bad) is going to impact us for the next 10-15 years. There are 4-5 viable QB's in this draft so comparisons will made for years to come, four QB's could end up in the AFC East if things shake out right, and since Brady is retiring the team who makes the right decision could end up being the team to beat in the division. Pretty incredible.
As long as they take Darnold or Allen, I would have no problem with it. I will think the Giants are totally stupid if they trade the pick and don't take a QB. IMO it wouldn't affect our decision at all. That was always a possibility that I'm sure that Mac considered. They have to like 3 QBs or Mac wouldn't have settled for #3.
Yeah, it would almost be a dream come true if the Bills do trade the ranch to move up to #2 to take Darnold. Not only would it screw the Bills in terms of what it cost to move up, but then when Darnold busts or rivals Geno for the number of TOs it will be downright hilarious. As an added bonus, the Giants would be certain to suck for a while even with all the extra picks, because they won't have a QB once Eli's gone, and he's never been anything great anyway, nor will they be in position to draft a great QB prospect unless the trade is for Buffalo's #1 and #2 next year and Buffalo winds up winning only 1-2 games this season.
How so (with regards to the bolded sentence)? The only way the Jets wind up with Allen is if they actually like and want him and he falls to #3 (which he should). In any scenario, there would be another QB there for the Jets to take. Scenario #1 - Browns take Darnold, Giants/Buffalo take Allen, Jets choose between Mayfield & Rosen Scenario #2 - Browns take Allen, Giants/Buffalo take Darnold, Jets choose between Mayfield & Rosen Scenario #3 - Browns take Rosen, Giants/Buffalo take Darnold, Jets choose between Mayfield & Allen Scenario #4 - Browns take Mayfield, Giants/Buffalo take either Darnold or Rosen, Jets choose between which ever QB the Giants/Buffalo didn't take & Allen The only nightmare scenario for me would be #4 where the Browns take Mayfield (watch it happen), the Giants take Rosen, the Jets are left with a choice between Darnold and Allen
How would the Giants be too smart not to take it? QB is the most important position on the team. Eli's getting up there in years and never been that good. Unless they really like Davis Webb and see him as their QB of the future (and he pans out), they'll have no QB, and with all that draft capital, their team will be so good that they won't be close to being in a position where they can get a great QB prospect. They'll be doomed to mediocrity for the next decade or more.
hype is interesting but rarely plays out that way. players fall all the time and surprise reach picks are made. the draft is impossible to predict but i don't see this QB class being "that good" that people will be jumping up to land one that much. Obviously the bills are trying to but outside of them, I cna't see another team making a move. I also don't see the giants or denver taking a QB over a BPA approach either
You beat me. I could of been faster for all intense and purposes. ; ) I hate grammar police. After all, I am the the Queen of Typos and Editing! I really am. Now kneel, slave, and kiss my ring! It's all in good fun, I'm sure he knows that. EDIT & P.S.: See, toldja. I typoed, so I edited! Typo, typo, typo, edit, edit, edit! But yeah, not worried. The Jets will probably call up JaMarcus Russell.
Nothing to worry about. If we are looking for Darnold or Rosen at #3, the only worrying development would be Buffalo looking at Rosen and potentially trading up to #2. All other scenarios remain the same (Darnold potentally going at #1 to Browns/Bills (thru trade) and Rosen potentially going at #2 to Gunts/Bills (thru trade) thanks to Rosen not considering the Browns. We get the Bronze Medal QB whatever happens.
I think you have a valid argument, but I would look at their GM. He's a former lineman himself and has reiterated his plan to build the team from the inside out. Another factor is Eli and how that situation will play itself out. It's not too different than Brady. If they draft a QB early, they are signifying a new era with their team and saying we would rather build for the future than surround Eli with necessary pieces to go to the big game one or two more times. Drafting a QB is the smart choice, but other factors at play here. Let's hope they take Chubb or Saquon. Our BEST case scenario is choosing between Mayfield, Rosen or Darnold.
I'm more worried about the Bills giving the Giants everything, jumping us, and drafting Mayfield. The Bills are being annoying pricks trying to trade up and need to know their role and shut their mouths and stay at 12 They have met with Mayfield 4 times. They love him.
If Gettleman drafts for the Giants anything like he did for the Panthers, he will make a lot of bad moves. Brady and Brees are exceptions to the rule, not the rule. Eli's play has already deteriorated. There are no guarantees his level of play won't fall off a cliff overnight. It is more likely that it will than he will be able to last another 2-3 years. If they try to build around Eli, they are taking a HUGE risk. Of course, the decision may be out of Gettleman's hands entirely. Mara and Tisch might make that decision for him. It will be interesting. That might be most GM's best case scenario, but I'm not so sure that it is with Mac. At least that way Allen is out of the equation (I'm assuming you have him go to the Browns at #1). We might be better off if both the Brown and Giants/Bills take Quarterbacks and leave Mac with fewer choices. If he has to choose between Mayfield/Rosen, I would feel very good about his choice either way. Add Darnold or Allen into the equation, and it gets a LOT murkier, and Mac is more likely to screw it up imo.
