I'm sure you've considered every variable, such as the team they are drafted by, the scheme they play in, and the coaches working with, and whether or not those coaches survive the first two years of the rookie's career.
nobody can consider every variable. A guy like mayfield for instance will have a much better chance to succeed if he goes to say New Orleans with sean peyton running the team and brees to mentor, then he would to say Cleveland with a large history of ruining QBs.
pretty much the same i posted. I don't think the jets will kill a QB in their current state, but I also don't think we will help one either in the way the siants or cheifs or eagles can. They don't need to start day 1, Mccown is a great mentor, and from what we all hear, bates is a very smart offensive guy, although it remains to be proven if he can succeed as an offensive coordinator.
After watching all their tape going back to when they were playing flag football as 7 year olds, talking to everyone who has ever coached them, reviewing the results of detailed private investigations into their personal habits, detailed Instagram searches for girlfriends and potential wives, psychological profiling, SAT and ACT scores, DNA testing, Ancestry.com, and conducting a personal survey of every NFL GM, HC, and OC on who they intend to draft and the scheme they intend to implement, I rank them as follows: Darnold Rosen Allen Jackson Mayfield
1. Sam Darnold, QB, USC. 2. Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA 3. Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming 4. Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma 5. Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State 6. Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville
I never saw a wide disparity in fan opinion...there is just no overall consensus But come draft night we will see who read Macs mind correctly
My Top 4 QBs: Baker Mayfield / Josh Rosen Sam Darnold Lamar Jackson Brief reasoning : Josh Rosen- I agree that without the injury concerns, he would be the consensus #1 overall pick in my opinion. Baker Mayfield- Best fit for Jets IMHO, Baller, great vision and accuracy, plays with heart, Height= minor issue, but he makes up for it in accuracy, extending plays, and attitude that is infectious. I want to say this is my guy, but God knows I have been wrong before with QB's........ Sam Darnold- Looked awful last season, Pick prone, Fumbles a bit too frequently, Reminds me some of Sanchez. If he can learn to protect the ball better, he could be great...but I thought that about Sanchez too. Lamar Jackson - Think he as upside. Didn't watch him play that much though, and we don't need a new project. Josh Allen - Everybody is in love with his arm. Accuracy doesn't normally improve at this point, they either have it by now or they don't. Been there, done that. No thanks.
Very nice analysis. I really like Rosen and I believe he has the best chance of the three in coming in and being an immediate star. I just see him as a guy that will be a shooting star. Here today and gone tomorrow. Either from injury or he decides to retire early to give himself the best chance at long term health.
For the Jets, definitely not overall: Rosen Mayfield White Falk Let's not fool ourselves, the Jets can't develop QB talent . That eliminates Darnold, Allen, Jackson, Rudolph, Lauetta, etc.
Montana Marino Elway Unitas oh wait you meant those coming out for this year's draft ; ) Rosen Baker Falk Darnold
I'm not thrilled with any of the available QBs, I think they all have a better shot at stinking up the joint than saving it. I would have much preferred to have stayed at 6. But if we're going to buy a lottery ticket, I think it's better to pick the one with the biggest jackpot, rather than the one with the best odds: Allen Rosen Mayfield Darnold
I've said this before, but whoever they take I would HOPE we could all come together and stay as positive as possible and get behind our rookie QB
