To answer your question, all depends on context. If you are not being hostile to the poster the poster won’t report you for calling him a fanboy. Your problem isn’t the words fanboy and pissy. It is your attitude. It is rubbing people the wrong way. Thanks for agreeing to dial it down. Case closed for me.

Not sure the drew brees way works well in the northeast. Give me rosen and a work horse rb just in case we accidentally have to host a game in January

In the Eisen interview he said he wants to win 7 SBs to beat Brady's record, or if Brady wins any more he wants to win at least one more than him. I think that implies he wants a long career (but I'll let him off the hook if he starts this year and wins 7 in a row!).

Stokes is a very interesting case.

The guy posted all kinds of evidence that he was a very successful professional and had all kinds of access to pro sports, but still had the time to post 10000 times here in the span of a year, it was such a self-contradictory existence.

Something never seemed right to me with him. So much anger, he always seemed to be in a long multiple post fight with someone. Certainly, a smart guy but very twisted. It has to be extremely stressful to live life that. Getting into continuous pointless fights with strangers on the internet I can only imagine how bad his real life must be. I have empathy for him but great empathy for his family.

Stokes was a special guy. I think my one and only scuffle with him before he got banned was him telling me multiple people wrote Bridgewater would be drafted first overall if they redid the 2014 draft. This was before the 2016 season I believe. He couldn't even find one that had him in the top 5. It was a good one.

This may be just pure speculation, but if the Giants are looking to get Saquon Barkley at #2 and still have need at QB, would it be out of the question to trade with the Jets at #3, get Hackensack or Petty (I know, they both suck) and Saquon. We take Darnold, Allen or Rosen at #2. Not that Saquon isn't keeping it a secret. Again, just speculation. http://www.tmz.com/2018/04/12/saquon-barkley-rocks-ny-giants-gear-to-barber-shop/

Been thinking about this for awhile. The only reason to trade up to three to select Baker Mayfield would be to put butts in seats. Haven’t seen that mentioned around here, not that I think there’s even a remote chance we select him 3rd overall.

Yeah when Brees won the Super Bowl with the Saints, they had an incredible interior offensive line. Guys like Mayfield would probably benefit from something similar. Especially seeing how Wilson is performing behind the swiss cheese line he has.

I disagree. I think it helps, but it isn't in the territory of disqualifier. Brady has been the absolute best in the weather in the north east, and while he is taller, it isn't exactly like people are comparing him to anyone with an arm like Josh Allen. Brady is a combination of impeccable accuracy, great decision making, and a work ethic bordering on psychotic due to whatever drives him. Arm strength in the modern NFL is fleeting. It's a bonus, but on its own offers no promise of success, including in weather.

That would be great, but it will never happen. We're ALL (including or especially me) too opinionated. Most of us say we'll root for whomever the Jets pick, but I'm certain that disappointment, frustration, and our knowing more than Mac (in our minds) will overtake our better intent, and the second the rookie makes a dumb play, says something stupid, or screws up in some fashion, the naysayers will be out in force saying, "I told you he was a bum. We should have never drafted him." If Bowles starts McCown or Teddy, it will be that the rookie couldn't "beat him out." It's our sorry, disgusting human nature. Ironically, I think sites like this make it worse. It's anonymous. Many, perhaps most, of us will never meet. If we were sitting around having drinks together, people would complain less, be less negative, probably be less polarized, and almost certainly more civil and humorous.

Along with that is not trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, but rather changing the offense to fit the strengths of the QB and minimize his weaknesses. That's one of the major failings of NFL teams that the 2-part article that xxedge posted in another thread.

"Forced" pick? LOL For all we know, Mayfield may be #1 on their board.

I like you guy, but if you have Mayfield at #7 and would take an OG over him, then I'm glad you aren't the GM.

Good post. I hasten to add that another vitally important factor, perhaps THE most important factor is if the team designs/alters its offense around the QB, what he does well, and hides his weaknesses, or if it tries to force him to play in a way that maximizes his weaknesses and minimizes his strengths (trying to force a square peg into a round hole). NFL teams are notorious for that. I knew it even before the article that xxedge posted in another thread, and it only confirmed what I already knew. No QB is perfect. They all have shortcomings. If too much focus is placed on correcting their shortcomings rather than utilizing their strengths, then these QBs will probably fail as well. Hopefully, Bates is smarter in that regard than a lot of the dolts who are serving as OCs, QB coaches and HCs in the NFL.

Colleges don't give a darn about preparing players for the NFL or playing a conservative NFL offense. The sooner the NFL realizes this, sets its ego aside, and incorporates more spread offense aspects, the better, and more QB prospects will thrive rather than disappoint, and offenses will be more interesting and the game more enjoyable.

If the Jets draft Mayfield and Bates is smart, he will incorporate more spread aspects into his version of the WCO and design the offense around Mayfield and what he does well.

Well, if I was the GM, I would trade down if my target was Mayfield. Or just stay at #6. Nelson is the better prospect. I thought #7 was a kind ranking for Baker. He would not be an option for me at #3 though, so agreed you should be glad I am not GM. :)

It's tough though, because once you have traded up to #3, you are clearly taking a QB so ranking other position players doesn't really matter. If the Jets did stay at #6 and My Top 5 were gone and it was down to Nelson, Mayfield, and Vea, I think I would have to go Mayfield just based on the Jets situation. Nothing wrong with considering Nelson the better overall player.
