I agree, but you would be trigger happy to peace out after he is drafted rather than waiting until he plays.

The problem with following in love with measurables is that's the least important aspect of a QB succeeding. Once you get past the minimum standard of arm strength and height it really matters very little. The mental aspects are what will make a break a QB. Proper mechanics, pocket presence and ability to move in the pocket, ability to process information quickly, ability to read and understand defenses very quickly, accuracy and ball placement, touch, anticipation and ability throw on time and the ability to convert third downs under pressure is what will make or break a QB.

A rocket arm is probably more of a hindrance than a help as QBs with such arms tend to rely on this gift and overuse it. Measureables do not make up or help if you have not shown the ability to play QB. This is the problem with a guy like Allen. He has not demonstrated any ability to play QB other than having a strong arm and great measureables. In a perfect world every QB has an unlimited Tom Brady like ceiling as you do not need a rocket arm or measureables to be great. But if you look at Allen's realistic ceiling it is very low. The likelihood of him fixing his mechanics, learning to read defenses, developing pocket presence, learning how to throw on time and with anticipation, developing accuracy and suddenly learning to process information quickly is very low. At best if everything goes very well for him he might develop into a bottom 10 QB or a decent back-up. That is his realistic ceiling. Expecting him to reinvent himself and to suddenly learn every aspect of playing QB simply because he has a strong arm and natural gifts is not realistic and a trap that looking at highlight reels can make one fall into.

absolutely. Lets at least try and get on board with whoever it is, your guy, my guy, their guy. It won't matter after the 26th.

Whoever they draft it will be OUR guy so lets try and get behind him

No chance he plays this year if he is drafted. Dude needs at least 2 years on the bench. Guy was getting fooled by Mountain West defenses. What's the plan against the Patriots x2, Broncos, Texans, Vikings and Jaguars?

Couldn't agree more with that sentiment.

    You heard it here first:

    Browns- Sam Darnold
Bills (Via Trade with Giants)- Josh Allen
    Jets- Josh Rosen

Bradley Chubb at 3 could really thinout the Jet fan base.

Yeah they wouldn't run him out there year 1 for sure. Year 2 though, he would likely be named starter. Can't sit a top 3 pick that long.

That pick doesn't help us one bit. Until we get a FQB, this team will be a joke. (Wouldn't mind Chubb if we had Cousins or FQB on the roster)

Actually, that's a good enough reason for me. There's an awful lot of dead weight in this fan base.

Actually you are right, that would be a much better selection.

The defense would be absolutely insane. It would open things up for Leonard Williams too.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying for sure.

all of these QBs have weaknesses. I don't know a lot about QBs, I'm just a blue collar dude, but one thing that I think teams/evaluators should DO and something I'm really not sure if they do do this, is focus on the weaknesses instead of the positives. If you look at the weaknesses of all the prospects and determine which ones can be fixed or hidden best that should be your man.

by focusing on the positives its easy to fall in love with a guy and ignore or even subconsciously diminish their flaws. I think that's especially true when you look at prospects like we're discussing, the big guys with the cannon arms

Would make sense if we had a FQB, but we don't right now. The outrage would be understandable if that was the pick.

Team sports played by the prospects in high school:

    Josh Rosen - Football
    Baker Mayfield - Football, Baseball
Sam Darnold - Football (WR, LB and QB), Basketball, Baseball
Josh Allen - Football, Baseball, Basketball

There's a reason that Rosen and Mayfield look more polished than Darnold and Allen. They both spent more time honing the fundamentals in high school while the latter two basically had a non-stop scholastic sports schedule that prevented them from focusing on their primary sport.

Rosen played Football and was the starting QB for St. John Bosco his Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons.

Mayfield played Football and Baseball and was the starting QB for Lake Travis his Junior and Senior seasons.

Darnold played Football, Basketball and Baseball and was the starting QB his Junior and Senior seasons for San Clemente. He filled in at QB during his Sophomore season and then broke his foot during his Junior season. He was a starting WR and LB when not playing QB. He was an All-State Basketball player his Senior season.

Allen played Football, Basketball and Baseball and was the starting QB for Firebaugh his Sophomore, Junior and Senior seasons.

So all those guys you mentioned had the size, elite arm talent and athleticism? That's not hindsight buddy it's just facts; they may have met 1 or 2 of the 3 but not all 3. Big QBs are rare, big QBs with big arms are rarer but big QBs with big arms who run 4.7s are better are the rarest of them all. This is why scouts fawn over Allen; he's the rarest of blends. We are talking about Cam Newton territory of physical attributes, slightly slower but bigger arm.

Rosen/Mayfield. We will hear Chubb and Barkley as well before the draft. Its all ratings driven. The mock drafts change daily. Don't take any of it seriously. We are all guessing.

Chubb > Allen or baker. I wouldn’t complain at all if mac took Chubb if the Cali boys go 1 and 2. Edge rusher isn’t too far below qb as a need .
And the entertainment value of watching people declare they are done wasting time on this franchise just to return to posting the next morning....I love that shit.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield is scheduled to be in Florham Park, New Jersey, on Monday and Tuesday for a pre-draft visit with New York Jets officials, the team's last chance to meet with the Heisman Trophy winner before the April 26 draft.

The Jets have met with Mayfield on multiple occasions, starting with the Senior Bowl in January, but this will be different because CEO and chairman Christopher Johnson is expected to be involved.

So if we take Chubb then what's the plan at QB?
