Read the post tommy..I said who the Jets pick NOW..Mayfield , Rosen Allen..I don't think they will see the field soon at all given we have Teddy and McCown You are blind dumb and nasty sonny
You had the balls to compare the Mahomes situation to Petty and then call me a moron? You get your vagina twisted and call others out? You specifically said Bowles favors vets, where's your proof. That he didn't start Petty? Or Hack? As rookies? Petty has shown you enough where you think he should play? That means a 3rd overall pick won't play, because a 4th round JAG didn't? Makes someone blind and dumb? And nasty? BTW, if you're going to quote Parcells, use it right. He was talking about the team, you are what you're record says you are. Not an individual. No one called you names, acted like a nasty POS, that was on you. Grow up, who gets so I'll indignant on a message board? You have lots of issues, deal with them
You asked for a list of guys who failed with similar size/talent. It’s always easy in hindsight to say these guys were not like Allen, but for their time they were. The general thought for each (like Allen) was that they would be better NFL vs college players + why they were selected in rd. 1. 2 of them went in the top 2. McWire was selected before Favre because of size + perceived ceiling. You can disagree with the level of talent, but you can’t argue that the very same thought process you are using with Allen was the same that was used for these guys who failed.
Yeah but you can also find a long list of QBs who with those attributes were successful. From Luck to the Manning's on most successful QBs fit that mold. More than those who come from a spread offense, who are under 6'1", where there are none.
I look forward to a wave of optimism once we draft someone and hopefully a temporary respite from the nasty I know better than you comments we have seen of late as many advocate for their point of view. Maybe for a brief short period of time we can all join in a wave of optimism until whatever reality eventually settles in. Like or hate our new QB this is likely our only opportunity for the next 10+ years to draft a FQB. Hopefully we hit on him. If we do I don't think anyone here will care who was right or wrong.
I would rather that definitive conversation over this "could be/maybe so" convo we are currently having.
good list. It happens a lot. People get caught up in the size and the big arm and overdraft busts. Idk why legler asked that question, he usually knows about quarterbacks. There have been plenty of busts with great size and big arms over the years
I won't be happy if they take Allen, but if the dude balls out what does it matter? I'd recommend sticking around until he at least plays.
