Poeman...why do u think some people call him "the chosen one?" I am sure the statement does not ruffle any feathers...right? Human being prefer to live amongst their own kind naturally...right? Unless you are thinking he is nationaliistic and he may bring with him Zionism and cause disruption in the locker room or media when he begins to spew his ideologies??? But that shouldnt be a problem either because of who the media is established and represented by...right? Im confused...why did you post this?
Baker has the superior resume. I dont think Lamar is getting the respect he deserves. Although i believe Allen shouldn't be mentioned in the same stratosphere as Lamar im still not sold on his accuracy. Like Petty, he seems to miss wide open receivers. Lamar would electrify the stadium like Vick did in Atlanta...but what was that outcome? No rigns...several teams. And i agree...i believe if Allen is there they will take him...and i will find a new team. He may become the next Elway, but his resume does not qualify him for the job. I can live with the other 3 guys not turning into FQB's because every draftee is a roll of the dice, but at least their resumes fit the job descriptions.
Fitz is smart...lets bring him back. There are a lot if smart players in the nfl...some never see the field because at the end of the day its about performance...knowing is only half the battle. Smart people make mistakes, look at the prisons, government etc. Trump.is smart...but nevermind...he was elected. How smart was that?
Sometimes I wonder if the internet was invented to smooth the path to a nervous breakdown for Jets fans. That's a general comment, not in response to anything in this thread.
Trump got elected to win a bet with Putin. My heart definitely says Mayfield. He has leadership qualities. His personality oozes of confidence.
Eyes are nice, but I think it would be important to have common interests; long walks on the beach, well read, classic rock....
Baker Mayfield. I like the idea of the cocky A$$hole coming to NY. It should be fun to see if NY can bring him back to earth?
^ 18 more days till the draft Brook...might as well enjoy the fanboy shit show! "Draft 'whack!' the 'whack!' Jew!!" ... "Draft 'whack!' the 'whack!' runt!" Me, I'll take either since "my favorite football hero's" getting picked 1st . . : ) Now if only his pores oozed HGH . .
Rosen give Brady esque interviews....no joke. Has a coolness to him. You need that in a QB. Not saying he is 100% going to be a stud, but I like a lot of what I see. One comparison has him as a Trent Green, I can kind of see that.
Brady gives the cool guy, chill interviews with the media but on the football field he has an intense competitive fire. I don't think that is Rosen. I question Rosen's heart. It's clear he's a professional athlete, but is he a football player? if that makes any sense I don't really give a shit about any of these guy's off the field personalities, I care about how they are between the lines. It's between Darnold and Mayfield in terms of on-the-field competitive fire that I like
FWIW, I like how Rosen questions his coaches when he feels it's necessary instead of blindly doing what he's told.
What evidence do you have that he doesn't burn with competitive fire? He could've stuck with tennis; he could've quit after the first big injury; he could've feigned an injury ans stayed on bench against Texas A&M but instead led UCLA back in one of the great comebacks. Does a guy with no "competitive fire" do any of these things? But keep talking this meme up so the Browns and Giants pass on him.
I think he's disingenuous in these interviews when he says he loves the game with all his heart. I don't think he does. His own coach has warned that he has to be "challenged intellectually so he doesn’t get bored." That's a very polite way of saying he doesn't like the mundane (but important) parts of the job. -The watching film part. -The running the same play over and over in practice so it becomes second nature part of the game. Everyone loves game day but 90% of the job are those things. And he gets bored. It's not to say he won't be successful anyway. He may if someone shakes him outta that. But his football desire is a red flag that doesn't sit right with me. --- EDIT - I should add that it doesn't sit right with me from a football standpoint, purely. Life wise, I think it's great that a smart kid has lots of interests and intellectual fervor. that's great for society, but I dunno about the football field
But as Br4d pointed out in another post, of the Top 4 QBs, only ROsen played a single sport in high school: football. How is that not "single minded"? And in the interview posted recently (Sorry I forget who posted it), you hear him explain how he wants to know every single aspect of what his OC's strategy and plays involve so that when he takes the snap he's prepared for any eventuality. How is that not dedication? I suspect you just have a problem with his personality or the circumstances of his life, which has nothing to do with how he'll do on the field. You're entitled to your opinion, but I'd be more open to considering it if you provided some facts or evidence beyond "feelings".
Maybe his coach, doesn't know how to deal with young people who are in College and not yet professionals. Maybe that's why the coach was canned?
I have nothing against his personality and life circumstances. I think his coach's comments should serve as a red flag, but of course that's only one perspective, I don't think anyone on a message board, you or I, knows his true motivations. I sincerely hope the Jets don't get caught up loving all the other stuff about him and downplaying his dedication, that's all. They should give it a thorough review One of the wisest men I ever knew happened to coach sports, he has stated that when he met with players he would try to set aside everything talked about face to face and then think about which path the young man would take when the meeting was over. path 1: is the kid going back to the gym after the interview to play, learn and improve in the sport he loves? OR path 2: are they doing something different? reading, watching tv, getting dinner with a cute honey? etc... he said it didn't matter to him personally which path he thought the kid would take. But on his team he only wanted path 1 guys. I think Rosen is a path 2 guy. I think Darnold and Mayfield are path 1s. You can think my criteria is silly, i don't care, just one man's opinion.
