while the jets are doing the research heavily on baker, allen, and rosen. They haven't done much on darnold. The reasoning could be they know more then we do (that he won't be there at 3) maybe the giants already said if cleveland passes they are taking him? maybe they are 100% certain cleveland takes him? but with the rumors of cleveland leaning towards allen, it doens't make sense to me that we didn't do more research on darnold

not a chance he lasts past the first 2 picks IMO. If hes not a Brown, he's going to be a Giant. Let the chips fall.

Darnold is so similar to Eli Manning, I don't see any way he gets passed the Giants if the Browns go Allen.

I wish they traded up to 2, as Allen and Darnold were the only QBs worth trading up for imo, and I'm pretty sure they will go 1-2.

My guess is that they see Darnold as needing more development time than even Allen. He has a very good arm and scrambling ability, but he has some bad habits and an elongated throwing motion that might be concerning. I think he's 4th on their list:

    1. Rosen
    2. Mayfield
    3. Allen
    4. Darnold

I wouldn't mind if Mac had the "problem" of choosing between Rosen and Darnold at 3. Not getting my hopes up that it'll happen, but you never know.

I'm 180 degrees opposite your opinion, but I hope you're right about draft selections.

Darnold IMO is very similar to Jameis Winston ... they are almost carbon copies on the field in terms of skill-sets. Winston might have a stronger arm, but Darnold is more mobile. Winston went 1; and Darnold in a way the same college career w/out the national championship / heisman.

I cna't see any world where darnold is 4th on their list and mayfield is 2nd. if that's the case, we really should fire mac. even if he was 4th you still do your research, The only reasonable explanation is that he feels no chance in hell darnold is there at 3. The only way he'd know that is if the giants told him no, because they were taking darnold if he falls to 2.

In that case, it's typical jets luck where the giants go from eli to darnold and worse off we take a bum like baker 3rd over rosen. It'll be funny to see these forums in 203 years when mayfield is a complete bust in the NFL

If the Giants take Barkley, I will be laughing my ass off ... with that said, flip a coin and take a QB. I guess they would take Darnold?

In 203 years, we'll all be long gone unless there's some great medical invention to quadruple human life spans. :D And Baker is no bum. Plenty of good college players including QB's didn't pan out in the NFL. Does that make them bums?

barkely is a great pick for them though. bets player in the draft, fills a huge need, and contributes from day 1 on an team with an aging QB
    LMAO 2-3 years

There are going to be potential all pros to be had in the 3rd round. I mean, for the Jets sake, I hope they do take Barkley. But no way do I take him at 2 when I can get a Rashaad Penny type RB in the 3rd to 4th round. This has been evident throughout history.

When Zeke came, there was Jordan Howard
When Gurley came, there was David Johnson

    Plenty of other examples.

jordan howard really isn't in the same league, but i do agree RB talent can be found easily in the later rounds. however teams like Dal, Jax, LAR have had great sucess taking a RB top 5 in the draft recently. also RBs taken in the top 10 have a very low bust rate making them a safe pick. Their GM drafted a RB 7th overall last year as well

no thanks. all the experts are constantly wrong they are just "another opinion" in a sea of opinions. If you can find me one who has been right 80% of the time i'll listen, but outside that, they are just taking guesses. same goes for GMs who are often wrong as well

Jordan Howard carried that Bears offense last year with no receivers / other weapons. He beat Pittsburgh by himself. Zeke might be more talented, but Howard is putting up great # to start his career and is more reliable in terms of not getting in trouble.

It will happen in this draft too. I am a huge fan of Penny.

So you're going to judge as worthless something you haven't even seen? Not the makings of an open mind for sure. Simms has had a pretty good track record of predicting QBs who will succeed, so you might want to check it out, but if you chose to remain close-minded that's up to you.

You might also keep this quote in mind:

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance—that principle is contempt prior to investigation." Attributed to Herbert Spencer

I really like Penny too. I doubt Macc "splurges" on offense though.

no i'm saying i'd rather believe my own eyes then base my opinion on someone else's opinion who is often wrong.

the reason we see these weird hype waves is "experts" trying to get views and making "clickbait" claims for clicks instead of people actually spending the time to watch film and make their own judgement. If people were willing to watch a few hours of film and make their own assesment things would be much nicer, but instead people will take the lazy read an article for 5 mins and believe it route.
