Like I said before, analysis have been done on entire body of work, adjusting for dropped passes, catchable balls, etc, and still Allen is low. You can't change the big picture by posting and analyzing a few videos, which do not represent statistically significant sample size.
Come on now, it's like saying that the only knock on Petty is that he throws a lot of INTs and not a good player. You've just dismissed entire work he has done thus far as the "only knock".
There is no set of analytics that adjusts for a gimmick offense, for the WRs being wide open, for he fact that the team was dominant. Videos, even a handful do show differences in offensive philosophy. A higher percentage of Allens passes were downfield over Mayfield for example, out of design and game situations. Yet fans reading nothing but stats point to completion percentages that would never be comparable given the types of passes on top of talent issues that don't show up with analytics. This isn't an individual sport like baseball
Except that coming out of college, a productive career in a gimmick offense made people question how he would project into the NFL. It's why he went in the 4th. Sound familiar?
I would not dismiss Rosen that easily. If he is somehow there at #3, Jets have to take a hard look. Mayfield has done great things, but Rosen is two years younger, physically gifted with good size, and has been really performing at high level since high school, being a top recruit. If he is there at 3, Jets may have no choice but take a chance on him.
Sounds like a bunch of excuses - I already pointed to the analysis down on 20+ yards downfield passes and Allen still has low %. Mayfield is top with 53%. Look at all the good NFL QBs that came out in the past decade or so with <=56% completion in College at the same age or older as Allen and tell me their names. Please do not mention Farve, that was 27 years ago.
Of course, the argument always gets back to a description of the process being an excuse. Not what it is, fact. You can churn numbers all you want but the simple fact is no one will tell you that Mayfield throws a better deep ball. And it really makes it easy to make a case when people say "and don't tell me so and so, it was some time ago".
If Rosen is there at 3 there is no way we pick Mayfield over him. When the reservations are a couple of injuries vs can his game translate into the NFL, I'll take the couple of injuries.
Sounds like Petty, but like Sanchez, what does he have to do with Baker? Baker is in a class all by himself when it comes to spread offense comparisons. The true closest comparison would be Mahomes, who went in the first last year.
I love when people make these sorts of statements as if they know how the Jets really feel about these prospects. Like most of your posts, this one is silly.
In other words you couldn't find anyone in recent history who had 56% or less completion rate in College and turned out to be a very good NFL player? Why do you think that is?
What does the idea that each played in an offense that has no correlation to what they will play in the NFL? Really? That he was good in that gimmick offense that doesn't translate into the NFL makes him better? Lol. And in no way is he Mahomes like. Not size, not arm, and he's been better than Mahomes. Mahomes was a day two draftee who climbed up the draft list off of a big arm at the combine. His better comparison is Manziel. Similar size, good arms, Heismans, offenses, maturity issues. I know no one wants to have their guys compared to a failure but coming out of school, production and success, they have much more in common than with Mahomes
Your definition of silly: The Jets won't agree with me and 99% of the experts who easily put Rosen ahead of the guy who makes you wet.
Stafford? I've said it before, I'll say it again. Completion percentage is the lazy way to rate a QB. Geno had an absurdly high comp. percentage, how did that project. 20 of 35 = 56% 22 of 35 = 63%. 2 lousy completions. WR talent wouldn't effect that #. Types of passes wouldn't either. Got it. Analytics are cool
You make sweeping statements and proclaim them as facts. The draft order is still being determined. The experts don’t agree with themselves so not sure how 99% agree with you. Just when I think you can’t be any sillier you come up with something to top your last post... http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2018/04/nfl_mock_draft_2018_latest_jets_7-round_projection_3.html
In terms of size, Mahomes is only 1inch and 10lbs heavier than Mayfield. I think that is comparable size.
Excuse me, but this utter poppycock. In your example if Allen say goes 22 of 35 for 2 games, his next game is going to have to be something like 14 of 35 to keep up with his 56% average. That is very poor, and likely a loss. Over the the course of 16 games season, that translates in 5-6 extra losses, which enormous. I hope that gives you some perspective. Do you now see why you can't find any good NFL players in recent history who came out of College with 56% completion rate? And Stafford came out at 61.4%
Nope. 61% How many times do you need to be told - Good completion percentage is needed to have a chance of success in the nfl but doesn’t guarantee it. So instead of pointing to qbs who threw for over 60% and failed can you give us someone who has thrown under and succeeded? This argument is only “lazy” in your opinion because you have no rebuttal.
